Oct 21 Three Corners Workshop: Bringing Art to San Mateo

Did you know? Bay Meadows recently installed Evan Shively sculptures in Persimmon Park for all to enjoy. We have a passion for public art, and look forward to seeing more of it come to life in San Mateo. Want to be a part of the local art movement? Join the workshop on Oct 21st!

The City of San Mateo welcomes you to share your ideas, creativity and art to brighten Downtown San Mateo on Tuesday, October 21 from 5:30-8pm. If you have ideas, feel free to bring a *brief* proposal or images to share. If you don’t have ideas yet, or this project is new to you, you are still welcome to join the facilitated brainstorm session at this workshop, and you are invited with or without a proposal for an idea.

San Mateo’s City Manager’s Office and the Downtown Art Project, a DSMA initiative, are working to beautify the Three Corners, a key entry way into downtown at 3rd and El Camino. It is a priority of the San Mateo City Council to address this area, now bordered with fences and overgrown grass, by temporarily activating the spaces and fences with art envisioned by the San Mateo community.

During the workshop you will:
Tour the site location
Meet with other creative and interested parties
Brainstorm ideas to improve the Three Corners
Learn about the process for choosing projects
Set in motion the process for cleaning up and creatively beautifying these corners

Meeting Schedule:
5:30 to 6:00pm: Meet at the Northeast corner of Third and El Camino (Property closest to Second and El Camino Garage)
6:00 to 8:00pm: Walk to the San Mateo Main Library for the remainder of the workshop

Please visit the City of San Mateo website for more information about the Three Corners and be part of this exciting project. RSVP to this FREE event to help the City of San Mateo plan for you.
