Ballgame, anyone? Ride Caltrain!

Did you know that Bay Meadows is a true transit-oriented community? The pedestrian village is carefully planned and designed so that residents can live, work, play, and easily use a number of options for getting around, either on foot, by bike or by using public transportation. Caltrain is a hub of public transportation on the peninsula and for Bay Meadows, which helps to combines the communal feeling of the suburbs with cultural aspects of the city.

Whether you’re planning a trip to San Jose for business, a ballgame with friends or night on the town in San Francisco – Caltrain makes it a breeze. You can take a walk over to the Hillsdale Station or even drop your car if needed in the plethora of parking available. You’ll find lots of benches (some with shade), in this great location across the street from the mall. Here are a few more examples of how easy Caltrain can make your transit lifestyle:

Take Me Out to the Ballpark:
Take Caltrain from the Hillsdale station directly to the AT&T ballpark in just shy of an hour to catch or game or show. Attending a Giants game at AT&T Park is a unique and exciting entertainment experience. Perfectly situated and centrally located in San Francisco, AT&T Park is one of the most unique venues. The Fourth and King Street Station is one block from the AT&T ballpark and just six blocks away from the planned Warriors San Francisco Sports and Entertainment Center location, making it the ideal spot to hop off Caltrain and start your San Francisco adventure.

Catch a Game at Levi’s® Stadium:
Football fans heading to Levi’s® Stadium can ride CalTrain to the Mountain View Station and transfer to VTA light rail. Light rail will provide service from Mountain View to Levi’s® Stadium in Santa Clara. Caltrain provides extra service for major events, including 49ers games, held at Levi’s® Stadium, to get fans to the game in addition to regular Sunday service. Caltrain will run two extra northbound trains after the game. Events that will have extra Caltrain service are listed HERE. When you purchase your ticket at the ticket vending machines select the special joint Caltrain-VTA Day Pass. The ticket is good for service to and from Mountain View (Zone 3), including the light rail portion of the trip. The joint pass is valid on Caltrain through the last train of the night and on VTA buses and light rail until 3 a.m.

CalTrain of the Future:
Caltrain is currently in the process of a major upgrade. The Caltrain Modernization Program (CalMod) will electrify and upgrade the performance, operating efficiency, capacity, safety and reliability of Caltrain’s commuter rail service by 2019. Passengers will still be able to ride Caltrain as this PCEP is put in place. The new system will provide cleaner trains with less impact to the environment, an enhanced rider schedule during peak travel times and because the project is a mix of state, federal and local funding, there will be no increase in fares as a result of the PCEP. For more information on the CalMod and the PCEP, visit the website, or view the program fact sheet and FAQ’s.
