Now that’s City Biking!

For all those skeptics who think biking is just for Millennials or for the tech set or for anybody but them … may we introduce you to Bay Meadows residents Steve and Curt?

I hadn’t biked since I was kid,” Curt acknowledged at a recent resident get-together in Bay Meadows’ community garden. “Now, I bike to work every day!” He recently moved in to his new home at Canterbury.

Steve, a resident of Amelia, is a longtime cyclist. In addition to his weekday bike commute, he takes to the Bay Trail on weekends, sometimes to Coyote Point or to the golf course. So, with all that bicycling, he doesn’t need to work out, right?

“After work, my bike ride takes me right by 24 Hour Fitness, so I stop by for a workout there, too.”

Both Curt and Steve belong to a cohort of workers at the City of San Mateo’s Department of Public Works who all ride their bikes to work. Not only is it the “green” thing to do, but it makes them feel better all around. Plus, it’s convenient and easy.

The crew has big plans for Bike To Work Day on May 14th. For starters, they plan to swing by Bay Meadows’ energizer station at 1000 Franklin Parkway, which is hosted by Kaiser Permanente and Whole Foods Market San Mateo.

We hope you’ll join us for Bike To Work Day, too, where we’ll be giving away a PUBLIC Bike at our energizer station. For your chance to win, snap a pic and tag @baymeadowslife with #BTWSanMateo + #HowIRoll. Learn more here>
