Located in San Mateo, Made in Italy: Stuzzicherria & Wine Bar

There’s a new spot in downtown San Mateo where you can discover the best of Italy! Made In Italy is both a pizzeria and a wine bar with authentic Neapolitan pizza flight  and wines with most bottles coming from Italy. This spot located at 137 E. 3rd Street is “Stuzzicheria”, Wine bar and “Pizza Napoletana” meaning the craving of good food.

The D.O.C. Certified Pizza Maker, Franco came from Naples and follows all old recipe secrets of Neapolitan tradition handed down from his father who initiated the most famous pizzerias of Naples.

Pizza D.O.C is believed by some foodies to be the most authentic form of pizza available. D.O.C. stands for ‘Denominazione di Origine Controllata’. The oven must be wood burning, and you must make marinara & margherita pizzas to certify. The pizza dough must contain only fresh, all-natural, non-processed ingredients and be kneaded either by hand, or with a low speed mixer. Made In Italy uses the “Red Caputo” flour with low yeast and lets the dough rise for 36 hours, then quickly cooks in a 900-degree oven.

With 4.5 stars on Yelp, they are making quite an impression with rave reviews like these:

‘Yum. Another great Italian restaurant addition to the peninsula, and another one representing Calabria. This place is notable to me because they have probably the best thin crust of any other place on the peninsula, and the best tasting prosciutto.’ – Bob F.

‘I’ve been stalking the opening of this restaurant, so when I saw on Yelp that it was open–and getting good reviews–I headed over for lunch. On reading the reviews, I was most drawn in to the Marinara, which includes capers and olives. The sauce is light, as is the drizzling of olive oil. Flavors came together very nicely, making for a slightly sweet, slightly briny combination. Crust is slightly crisp, but not crunchy, creating the type of thin-crust pizza experience I most enjoy.’ – Tami S.
