How has your background in nutrition and food science influenced your artisanal flavors and products?

I love science, especially the science of food, and ice cream has so many interesting aspects (esp texturally).  There’s a lot of interesting science in flavor development as well.  My nutrition background is the foundation of tin pot’s philosophy on using wholesome ingredients.  I believe in life, there is always room for ice cream….but it’s important  to consider how it’s made and what’s in it!  Life is short so you gotta enjoy the best.

What have been your most popular seasonal flavors to date?
Blackberry Jamble (summer flavor) is consistently a hit and my all time favorite.  Pumpkin with bourbon caramel is great around Thanksgiving.  We keep our Four Barrel Coffee with Cocoa Nib Toffee, Cookie Monster, Malted Milk with Chocolate, Earl Grey and Salted Butterscotch around all the time because they are tried and true favorites.

Share how your shop at Bay Meadows will stand apart from the others?

We have a great relationship with Survey Monkey and would love to do regular events with them, as well as other neighbors.  We can’t wait to get to know the community and will tailor our menu accordingly.

In what ways has social media influenced the business direction of Tin Pot Creamery?
We’ve had people vote on which flavors they want in the scoop shops, as well as come up with ideas for new flavors.  Last year, we made one person’s flavor.

If you could create a flavor just for future Station 4 employees at Survey Monkey, what would it be?

The easy answer here is a banana ice cream…but I researched what monkeys eat and supposedly bananas aren’t necessarily their favorites…in addition to fruit, they like honey and flowers.  So maybe we’ll do a lavender ice cream with honey brittle…that sounds pretty darn good.

Favorite Flavor: Blackberry Jamble!!!!!!!!  I can’t get enough of it.
