Celebrate Independence Day on the SF Peninsula

Life on the Peninsula definitely has its benefits, including easy access to parks and acres of natural settings alongside charming towns where tradition and community connections prevail.  San Mateo and its surrounding areas are serving up a number of fun Fourth of July activities this year, ranging from fireworks shows over water and midway games to small town parades and pancake breakfasts. Explore the list of ways to ring-in Independence Day close to home:

Enjoy Fourth of July in the Park in San Mateo at Central Park July 4, 11am-2pm. Wear your best red, white, & blue and enjoy a lovely day in the park under the sun! Family fun activities start at 11:00am, and the concert will be from 12:00-2:00pm. The Humphry Slocombe Truck will be there to serve you!

Come celebrate Independence Day in 2023 in San Mateo with a 4K Fun Run and 4th of July Parade followed by a festival with Midway BBQ & Carnival games for the kids, 12:30pm Pie baking contest, 2pm Swim races, and Cardboard boat races. The 2023 theme is May the FOURTH be with you!

Foster City Fourth of July Celebration offers games, live entertainment, a family + dog parade, food trucks, and fireworks over the lagoon at 9:30pm at Leo Ryan Park. July 4, 9am-9:45pm.

Watch the Redwood City Parade, then head inside the History Museum for an Old Fashioned Fourth and make Fourth of July crafts from the 1880s and homemade churned vanilla ice cream. July 4, 10am-4pm

Add some spice to your Independence Day at the 36th annual Palo Alto Summer Festival & Chili Cook-off on July 4, 11am.

The Redwood City 4th of July Parade, Festival and Fireworks is the premier holiday parade in downtown. Participate in the 5K run, enjoy a pancake breakfast 8am to 11am and catch the fireworks at 9:30pm.

Half Moon Bay’s beloved Ol’ Fashioned 4th of July Parade takes over Main Street transforming the charming downtown into a pulsating Coastsider take on a mini-Mardi Gras style celebration with live music, food and festivities. July 4, 10am to 4pm; 12pm parade.

Witness the skies sparkle red, white and blue with San Francisco Fireworks, visitors will be treated to SF’s spectacular fireworks display over the Bay launched from just north of Fisherman’s Wharf on July 4, 9:30pm. Fourth of July fireworks display in San Francisco is performed in two synced sets starting after 9:00 pm. One set is launched at the end of the Municipal Pier, the other—from the barges in front of Pier 39.

Join the Rotary Club of San Jose in celebrating Independence Day at Discovery Meadow. Fireworks begin July 4 at approximately 9:30pm.

Purchase tickets and head south to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View for Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular, their annual fireworks concert with the SF Symphony. The performance will feature incredible artists, including esteemed conductor Edwin Outwater and several distinguished vocalists! Meanwhile, San Francisco Symphony serves as the main highlight of this once-in-a-lifetime concert, and they’re set to perform several must-hear songs, including the “Star-Spangled Banner,” “Let It Go” from Frozen,” “Mambo” and “Cool Fugue” from West Side Story,” and more – July 4, 8pm.

The “Red, White & Boom” celebration in Milpitas is on July 4 at the Milpitas Sports Center Complex with an afternoon of fun including food trucks, live music, climbing walls, RC cars, video game truck, bounce houses and fireworks. July 4, 6-9pm

Grab your red, white, and blue and join the City of Menlo Park for the Annual Fourth of July Parade and Celebration. The parade starts at 11:00am  heading down Santa Cruz Avenue towards Fremont Park with a celebration and activities in downtown near Fremont Park from 12 – 2:30pm.
