Live, Work and LIFT Locally

After a friend tagged her in a post including #BayMeadowsLife, Cheyenne Levinson started following Bay Meadows on social media. She was familiar with the neighborhood, living nearby and taking her 3-year-old son Oliver to play at Paddock Park numerous times.

The connection led to a series of fortunate events. In May, Cheyenne won a PUBLIC Bike in Bay Meadows Bike to Work Day contest with this photo:

But it was when she learned about the new fitness studio opening at Bay Meadows that her life became hyper-local and convenient. When LIFT Exercise opens later this fall, Cheyenne will be biking to work as a LIFT instructor.

“LIFT is a wonderful brand to be a part of. I think Bay Meadows is a great place for the business to be … I met Erin [LIFT’s owner] and got so excited about the possibilities right away. I started one-on-one training in June … the really cool thing is there’s 3 different class formats and you can get all the workout you want in one place: Barre, Bike and Heated High-Intensity Interval Training.”

Cheyenne is a natural when it comes to sports and exercise. She was an athlete in college and studied outdoor education, including climbing, whitewater rafting and wilderness backpacking. Having grown up in Florida, Cheyenne competed on volleyball courts throughout her college years.

Fitness instruction and coaching was a perfect fit for this mom. While her husband works in San Francisco, Cheyenne prefers to work locally. In fact, one of the attractions when this young family moved from a small mountain town in North Carolina to San Mateo was the ability to bike easily for nearby conveniences.

“We were both excited to live more of a lifestyle where we could be active and outdoors, but also close to shops and restaurants. And, for me, I like to be in the sunshine. If something’s just a mile away, I can’t drive there; I won’t drive there. I prefer to just jump on my bike to get there.”

And what does little Oliver do while his Mom is biking about town? “He loves to hop on the back in the bike seat. I want him to grow up knowing that commuting on your bike is a normal thing!”
