2018 Is Shaping Up To Be A Fit Year

Welcome the new year by planning your local 2018 get fit events! Here is a list of nearby events to get on your calendar:

Kiwanis 2018 Resolution Run 5K and 10K in Mountain View on January 1. The courses are on paved walking and bicycling paths within Mountain Views Shoreline park.

Carb DM 2nd Annual Fun Run in San Mateo on January 27. This event is great fun for experienced runners and newbies, alike. Stroller and walker friendly with beautiful views of the water, Coyote Point Recreation Area is a beautiful hidden gem on the Peninsula.

Run for the Galgos in Brisbane on January 28. This event will take place along the beautiful San Francisco Bay Trail. Beginning at the Brisbane Marina, participants will run South on a flat, fast, yet scenic out-and-back route along the completely paved trail. Participants can choose to run the 10k (6.2 miles) or run/walk the 5k (3.1 miles).

Energy Boot Camp- 8-week Charka Series in San Carlos on February 6. Each of these eight Energy Boot Camp sessions is a 2-hour class that focuses on a specific chakra. Students are given many different interactive tools to heal and balance each chakra as well as participate in a 30-minute guided healing meditation.

Bike Skills 301 – Pacelines + Group Riding in Woodside on February 18. Wheelsucking is an art! Whether you’re a racer or a recreational rider, group riding skills will help you ride longer, faster, and farther. Learn draft theory and basic pacelines, progressing to more complex group riding skills and introductory racing techniques.

Go Green St. Patrick’s Day Run in San Jose on March 18. The Go Green Saint Patrick’s Day Run is back to celebrate shamrocks and leprechauns and everything Irish in the month of March.

Superhero IV 5k/10k Fun Run & Walk in Union City on March 4. Make sure to come by dressed as your favorite Superhero, our event photographer will make sure to capture your awesome outfits!

HIGH PERFORMANCE Starts in Burlingame on April 28. Get off the block and into a powerful dolphin kick to breakout ahead of the competition with Olympic gold medalist Tyler Clary! This clinic will cover starts, underwater dolphin kicking, and breaststroke pullouts so that you can drop time.

Sierra Azul Trail Challenge in Los Gatos on April 28. Run in the shadow of Mt. Umunhum with the deer and a few of your favorite running pals. Set in the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve, this one of a kind running event provides unique access to gorgeous trails and scenery not commonly viewed.

Alameda Hospital Foundation Run in Alameda on April 29. The runs will take place on the beautiful estuary trail of Bay Farm Island with a mostly flat dirt course and paved trail that features a beautiful view of the San Francisco skyline and bay bridge.

5K for Student Health and Mental Wellness in San Mateo on May 6. With the goal of creating a safe society while promoting the physical, social and mental well-being of our youth, SMPAL and SFA brings you this 5k Run/Walk to promote the importance of Student Health and Mental Wellness; Healthy Mind, Body and Community.

Whole Body Expo in San Mateo on June 30. Learn the differences between the vast types of Yoga, where to find local organic farm fresh fruits and vegetables, see live Brazilian Jiu Jitsu performances, practice your ballroom dancing and more! You can get connected to the health professionals in your area in a fun and educational experience.

Foam Glow in San Jose on July 7. This is a fun filled experience exposing runners to Glowing Foam and a ton of Blacklight’s all over the course. Whether you are a long term runner or a walk around the park stroller, the 3 miles of the Foam Glow 5K™ course will have you shining bright and waiting for the next run.

Alameda Running Festival in Alameda on September 16. The Alameda Running Festival incorporates a Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, 10k, 5k, and Family Fun Run. The event will start and finish in the Alameda Point and highlight several beautiful areas around the island.

2018 Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose Half Marathon on October 6. This flat, fast and scenic race is conveniently located in downtown San Jose and is known for being one of the most supportive and motivating race experiences in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Series.
