Bay Meadows’ urban garden, created by Star Apple Edible Gardens, serves as a public space for residents to work their own plots of land. Whether growing fruits, vegetables or flowers, the garden is an outlet for the community to unite in sustainable living, and not only beautify the neighborhood in which they live, but to help conserve resources and produce nutritious food. Bay Meadows' community garden will help inspire its residence to partake in a new form of urban agriculture, and continue with the tradition of farm-to-table living that originated in the Bay Area. The American Community Gardening Association has found that a community garden improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, and Bay Meadows' residents have a unique opportunity to experience that first-hand.
