Aloha Festival 2015 Returns August 1st and 2nd
Get a feel for the islands as The Pacific Islanders of the San Francisco Bay Area offer their talents in music and dance during the 2015 Aloha Festival with music, dance, food, and culture from over the Pacific. Grab friends, meet neighbors and walk on over to the San Mateo Events Center for a culture-filled day.
What: The Pacific Islanders’ Cultural Association (PICA) will be holding its annual two-day ethnic arts festival celebrating Pacific Islander culture. Each year thousands of islanders and islanders-at-heart gather to celebrate the culture through music, dance, arts and crafts, authentic food, and educational workshops. Admission is free!
When: Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2, from 10am-5pm
Where: Just next door to Bay Meadows at the San Mateo Events Center, 1346 Saratoga Drive, San Mateo, CA 94403. Parking is $10 per vehicle (cash only).
For the Kids: The Ohana Korner (Family/Kids’ area; ages 2-12) features games with prizes, free arts & crafts tables, kid tattoos, jump houses, a Bubble Zone, and more! Also this year, Aquarium of the Bay will bring a touch tank and other educational activities for children.
See the full lineup of the entertainment here that includes musicians, Halau Hula and Dance Groups, special guests Patrick Makuakāne’s Halau Hula, Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu of San Francisco, Deandre “Kamele” Brackensick from American Idol and a special Uke Workshop with Hiram Bell on Saturday at 2pm, where you are invited to bring a `ukulele, a friend and a smile to this fun and easy hands on uke experience.
