We caught up with Christel to get the story behind the popular photo and asked her for a few lifestyle and photography tips too. Read the interview:

Describe your experience along North Ridge Trail:
Magical! For us including the kids. The amazing redwoods, watching the fog rolling in against the sunset, and the breathtaking views. We also spot a lot of deer, bunnies, banana slugs, newts, birds, berries, and lots more.

What made you stop to capture this particular photo?
The kids love to slide in this specific spot. They heard a bird singing and were trying to find it. Haha! But I do want to capture and promote family adventures, enjoying nature and taking a break from technology once in a while.

Name three of your favorite San Mateo County Park spots:
Ahhhh!!! There’s so many!!! But definitely, Purisima Creek (where this trail is from), Edgewood, Coyote Point and Fitzgerald Marine Reserve will have to take third place together because our family loves the water too!

Any favorite filters you use?
Anything bright or vintage.

Secret Photo Tip?
Play with lights. Best light is early morning or near sunset. Candid shots are my favorite!

Additional photos that proved popular included this colorful and symmetrical photo by @shannonbadiee (135 votes!), which has an interesting story, as one voter pointed out.
