Still Time for Summer Biking

So it’s August already and you still haven’t taken your bike out for a summer ride? Well, how ‘bout a neighborhood ride with friends who can show you the ropes of biking in San Mateo?

Courtesy of San Mateo Cool Cities and the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, on Saturday, August 19th, 10am to 12pm, join San Mateo Sustainability Commissioner Adam Loraine for a guided ride.

Don’t own a bicycle? No problem! You can use San Mateo’s very own Bay Bikes bikeshare program to borrow a bike and enjoy the ride for free (Use promo code: COFFEE4 for $10 Bay Bikes credit)! Make sure to RSVP and note whether you plan to use Bay Bikes, so that the organizers can plan ahead on how many bikes to share! Please create a Bay Bikes account and use the special discount code above.

The event is free and open to the public, though pre-registration is required.

And if you haven’t yet heard the news, soon Bay Bikes will transition to electric bikes. The electric-assisted bikes require pedaling but can easily boost riders up all but the steepest hills. Learn more about these new bicycles here >
