December 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 Off the Grid Bay Meadows rolls in at lunch time TUESDAYS in Dec/Jan between 11am and 2pm on Derby St. at S Delaware Street for a limited time trial! Nosh on rotating mobile food options from creators like Dum Truck, El Sur and Oaxacan Kitchen. December 4, Holiday Tree Lighting & Santa. Celebrate the arrival of Santa at the Foster City Recreation Center along with music, light refreshments and the annual tree lighting ceremony.

December 6, Free First Friday. A House in the Woods in Living the California Dream. Explore the History Museum in Redwood City, play in the past + a General Tour.

December 6, CuriOdyssey’s First Friday Family Nights. Play inside CuriOdyssey’s dazzling IlluminOdyssey and dance with a live band, purchase hot dinner and meet CuriOdyssey’s nocturnal animals.

December 6-7, Winter Wonderland. San Mateo lights up Central Park for families to enjoy Free Activities: Arts & Crafts, Cookie Decorating, Snow, Music and meet Puffball the Polar Bear. (Dec 6 cancelled due to weather, learn more about the event here.)

December 7, Breakfast with Santa. Head to Hillsdale! Santa will meet and greet children, be entertained by a magical holiday-themed program and receive a take-home holiday gift.

December 7, Santa Arrives by Helicopter! Watch Santa land at the Hiller Aviation Museum. Santa will be available from 10:30am-12pm to listen to Christmas wishes.

December 7, Hometown Holidays. Enjoy a parade, live entertainment, carnival rides, snow, Santa Claus photos and more on Courthouse Square in Redwood City.

December 11, Holiday Wreath Making Class. Make a festive holiday wreath this Holiday season at Hillsdale Shopping Center! Instruction provided by Blossoms.

December 14-15, Holiday Festival of Dance. More than 500 dancers will converge for the “Holiday Festival of Dance.”

December 15, The Sugar Plum Tea Party at Peninsula Ballet Theatre. You’re invited to Tea with Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy and all of their friends from the Land of Sweets!

December 21, Holiday Lighted Boat Parade. Deck the Halls and come celebrate with Coyote Point Yacht Club, in conjunction with San Mateo Parks and Coyote Point Marina for a lighted boat parade.

December 21-28, The Nutcracker. The Peninsula Ballet reinvigorates this beloved holiday tradition with a 21st century sensibility, while cherishing all of our favorite Nutcracker moments at Fox Theatre.

December 22, Chanukah Festival. Experience Chanukah in virtual reality! Live music, Chanukah gelt drop, latkes and donuts, arts and crafts and more! Courthouse Square, Downtown Redwood City.

December 28, Sled Driver! The Hiller Aviation Museum welcomes Air Force SR-71 pilot Brian Shul.

December 31, Noon Years! Celebrate “Noon” Years at the Hiller Aviation Museum with a countdown to 12:00 Noon.


Thru January 5, IlluminOdyssey. Electrify your child’s imagination at CuriOdyssey’s IlluminOdyssey, a dazzling winter light experience for kids.

Thru January 12, San Mateo in Ice. The outdoor ice rink in Central Park features 11,000 square feet of REAL ice. Skaters will be able to skate in the sunshine during the day and under the stars at night.
