January 2020 Event Round Up

January 1, Fun Run with Sports Basement. Join the weekly Redwood City run group that meets every Wednesday at 6:00 pm. The run group is welcome to anyone.

January 3, Free First Friday. Mighty Tugboats in Charles Parsons’ Ships of the World. Explore the History Museum in Redwood City, play in the past + a General Tour.

January 3, CuriOdyssey’s First Friday Family Nights. Play inside CuriOdyssey’s dazzling IlluminOdyssey and dance with a live band, purchase hot dinner and meet CuriOdyssey’s nocturnal animals.

January 3, World Famous Dueling Piano Show! This audience-grabbing “dueling pianos” concept rivals anything like it in Las Vegas, New Orleans or New York. Recurring weekly in San Mateo.

Thru January 5, IlluminOdyssey. Electrify your child’s imagination at CuriOdyssey’s IlluminOdyssey, a dazzling winter light experience for kids.

Thru January 5, Putt’n Around Mini Golf. This fun pop-up recreation activity will bring back your favorite mini-golf memories! We have an 18-hole course complete with scaled decorations and nighttime black light golf.

January 5, Brunch at CRAFT/CODE. Inspired by San Francisco’s vibrant food culture, they offer a brunch featuring artisanal dishes like BBQ Brisket Eggs Benedict. From 11am-1pm every Saturday and Sunday!

January 6, Monday Night Pub Quiz at Freewheel Brewing Co. Join the best Pub Quiz on the Peninsula!

January 7, 14, 21, 28 Off the Grid Bay Meadows rolls in at lunch time TUESDAYS in Dec/Jan between 11am and 2pm on Derby St. at S Delaware Street for a limited time trial! January 7, Bobcat Feeding! Watch the CuriOdyssey bobcats chow down on bobcat delicacies and learn about these intriguing animals from our Animal Keepers, Tuesday – Sunday at 1 pm.

January 11, Central Park’s Rose Garden. ​Come to learn or share your expertise on how to prune roses at the San Mateo Arboretum.

Thru January 12, San Mateo in Ice. The outdoor ice rink in Central Park features 11,000 square feet of REAL ice. Skaters will be able to skate in the sunshine during the day and under the stars at night.

January 14, Signs of Winter. Enjoy an afternoon hike with docents Liz Foreman and Toni Gooch as they explore for signs of winter in San Carlos.

January 17, Wine Release Party – Old County Cellars. Celebrate with Old County Cellars in San Carlos as they pour the new 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon.

January 19,  Celebrate the Year of the Rat at Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo. On Sunday, January 19th at 1pm the festivities will begin with Lion Dancers, in vivid, colorful, dragon-like costumes performing their traditional dance, accompanied by music and heart-pounding beating drums.

January 19, Unplug, uncorked & unWINED. Join Domenico Winery on the third Sunday of the month for live music.

January 22, Karaoke at The Swingin’ Door! Belt out your favorite tunes at the Swingin’ Door in San Mateo for Karaoke Night. Wednesday – Sunday from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM.

January 25, MacArthur’s Air Force. Presentation and Book Signing by Bill Yenne at the Hiller Aviation Museum. General Douglas MacArthur is one of the towering figures of World War II.

January 26, PIASC Cioppino Feast. Peninsula Italian American Social Club in San Mateo is hosting its annual cioppino feast.

January 30, Your Brain on a Hike. Explore Pulgas Ridge Preserve as you enjoy a relaxed nature outing along the Blue Oak, Dick Bishop, and Dusky-footed Woodrat Trails.
