Central Park Music Series Returns to San Mateo July 4th
The City of San Mateo’s signature summer event is returning with a bonus concert on Fourth of July which will include the National Anthem and a thank you to essential workers between 11:45am – 12noon followed by music from Club 90 from 12noon-2pm. Pack a picnic full of your favorites from ROAM Burgers, Slices and Fieldwork Brewing San Mateo and plan a picnic in Central Park! Central Park is a San Mateo landmark with a beautiful gazebo, lighted tennis courts, a playground and baseball field just minutes away from your doorstep at Bay Meadows.
This year, The Central Park Music Series will hosts FREE live music on Thursdays from July15th through August 5th from 6-8pm. Showcasing a variety of diverse music genres, the Central Park Music Series is a signature summer event which brings nine evenings of free, live entertainment that music lovers of all ages will enjoy. Whether you are looking to socialize with friends at dusk, get your family time in, or dance the evening away, you’ll have a great time!
Here is the Band Line Up for the 2021 Central Park Music Series:
July 4: Club 90 (Dance Party)
Club 90 is a high-energy, choreographed dance party show. What began as a 90’s cover band, featuring the pop hits of a musical decade that has quickly become the top choice for audiences of all ages, has evolved into so much more! The band has recently expanded their repertoire to include dance hits from big band to the 70’s, 80’s and even the contemporary pop tunes of today, including artists like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Usher, Rihanna and more! Club 90 consists of nine accomplished performers, including four vocalists, keyboards, bass, guitar, drums and DJ to keep the party rockin’ non-stop!
July 15: Native Elements (Reggae)
San Francisco powerhouse, Native Elements has been keeping the energetic, feel-good reggae tradition alive in the Bay Area for over 19 years. Driven by tireless passion and their mission to reach as many people as possible Native Elements on average clocks-in 50-80 shows a year crossing continents, borders and city limits from Oregon to San Diego to Baja California, Mexico, France, Belgium, and Hawaii. They have toured with Steel Pulse, Midnite and Bunny Wailer while also sharing bills with reggae royalty, Third World, Black Uhuru, Don Carlos, and Alpha Blondy among dozens of others. As a back up band, Native Elements has supported Hawaii’s own Humble Soul, Marty Dread, J Boog and Jamaica’s own Luciano.
July 22: Maya Latin Band (Latin Rock)
Maya is a Latin Tribute Band, presenting the most popular songs from well-known artist that everybody recognizes, including Santana, Selena, Mark Anthony, Gloria Estefan, War, Celia Cruz, La Sonora Dinamita, Ritchie Valens, Kumbia Kings and popular Latin Old School hits. Maya covers all standard Latin styles including, Cumbia, Tex Mex, Salsa, Latin Rock, Cha Cha, Merengue and Old School.
July 29: Bud E. Luv (Party/Swing Big Band)
The Bud E. Luv Orchestra is a Rockin’ Big Band that plays everything from Frank Sinatra to James Brown, Disco to country. You Name it and the Budster did it first. When Bud E. Luv hits the stage, he’s got one goal in mind: with tongue placed firmly in cheek, Mr. Luv delivers to you the hottest hits from Vegas. Frank Sinatra, Wayne Newton, Sammy Davis, Jr., Tom Jones, and the list goes on. He’s got a sense of humor that won’t quit, and a set of pipes that’ll knock your socks off. Bud E. Luv can do it all, from weddings to music comedy lounge shows. His 3-piece band sounds like an orchestra and his orchestra is nationwide and priced like caviar – perfect for any upscale event. Bud E. Luv is his best spokesman: “In 1958, I just finished my third appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, and done a stint with Frank Sinatra in Vegas, a time which was most prolific for me. August 5: Pop Fiction (Party Band)
Pop Fiction has been a mainstay in the Bay Area since their first show way back in 2009. The band is expandable depending on your needs – From 7-piece, to 11-piece with a full horn section. From the minute they hit the stage, Pop Fiction churns out non-stop dance hits, sing-alongs, and favorites from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s, guaranteed to keep the dance floor packed and audiences of all ages ecstatic all night. The band, dressed to impress, delivers high-energy performances, audience participation, and pure unadulterated fun throughout the night!
