Pack your month with holiday fun! Watch Santa arrive by helicopter, spy the lighted boats cruise by, take a walk in a Winter Wonderland and much, much more at Bay Meadows and beyond. December 1-15, Holiday Community Performances. In celebration of the season, local community schools and groups will perform at Hillsdale Shopping Center in the North Block Plaza and South End Court.
December 3, Free First Friday at the San Mateo County History Museum. Online, preschoolers can learn about the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Listen to the story Hanukkah Bear. Then, create your own paper dreidel.
December 4, Santa Arrives by Helicopter! Watch Santa land at the Hiller Aviation Museum. Santa will be available from 10:30am-12pm to listen to Christmas wishes.
December 4, Winter Wonderland. Hosted by the City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation, this magical event held in Central Park will feature arts & crafts, food trucks, dance performances, and so much more!
December 4, Hometown Holidays. Enjoy a parade, live entertainment, carnival rides, snow, Santa Claus photos and more on Courthouse Square in Redwood City.
December 4 + 5, Holiday Train. The 2021 Glittering Holiday Train will be coming down the Peninsula this December 4 & 5! Expect the arrival in San Mateo on Sunday, December 5th at 6:40pm.
Dec 4, 11, 18 Weekends – The Santa Brunch is back at Pinstripes during the first three weekends of December. Get a picture with Santa while enjoying the Reindeer Waffle special and playing games at Pinstripes.
December 5, 12th Annual Chanukah Festival in Redwood City. Bring new scarves, hats, mittens, gloves and socks to decorate the Menorah of Warmth and give back to community, donations will be given to the homeless shelter after Chanukah.
December 8, Holiday Tree Lighting & Santa. Begin this holiday season with Foster City’s Tree Lighting Ceremony with holiday music and light refreshments, followed by a countdown to light the tree.
December 10, Kids Night Out: Winter Blast in Redwood City. Blast off into a night of winter inspired crafts, cool games and decorating tasty cookies for dessert! It will be a blast of winter fun not to be missed.
December 11, Holiday Lighted Boat Parade. Deck the Halls and come celebrate with Coyote Point Yacht Club, in conjunction with San Mateo Parks and Coyote Point Marina for a lighted boat parade.
Through December 12, Santa Pet Nights. The purr-fect keepsake photos with your pet and Santa! Sundays: 5-7PM, Wednesdays: 6-8PM at the Hillsdale Shopping Center.
December 12, Holidays with Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks in Woodside. Enjoy a free family holiday event, hosted by the Friends of Huddart & Wunderlich Parks. Activities include pony, Santa & Mrs. Claus, crafts, a petting zoo, and music.
Through December 21, Bring on the Lights. Visitors can experience the holiday tree and fountain light show in-person on the Hillsdale North Block Plaza all season long, with multiple show times daily. Catch it live again and again each weekend on the Plaza, The light show, named “Let’s Holiday Together”, runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings throughout the holiday season from November 20 through December 19, and on Monday, December 20 and Tuesday, December 21,
Through December 22, Gingerbread House Decorating Workshops. Kathy’s Creative Kakes will be hosting Gingerbread House Decorating Workshops at Hillsdale. Make a reservation or stop in to deck out a fresh-baked gingerbread house with all the sweet trimmings.
Through December 24, Enchanted Forest at the Hillsdale Mall. Children from local preschools and elementary schools will decorate enchanting holiday trees in the Lower Level in front of The Children’s Place. Stop by to view their design themes.
Through December 24, Here Comes Santa Claus. Snap a photo with Santa at Macy’s Center Court on the Lower Level of Hillsdale Shopping Center – pets are welcome! Grab brunch with Claus during the first three weekends of December. Get a picture with Santa while enjoying the Reindeer Waffle special and playing games at Pinstripes.
Through January 9, IlluminOdyssey at CuriOdyssey in San Mateo. Electrify your child’s imagination at CuriOdyssey’s spectacular light exhibition.
Through January 9, San Mateo in Ice. The outdoor ice rink in Central Park features 11,000 square feet of REAL ice. Skaters will be able to skate in the sunshine during the day and under the stars at night.
Through January, Samaritan House – Donations. Give back this holiday season! Samaritan House will be collecting non-perishable food items and NEW children/teen coats (NO adult coats) at both Customer Service locations.
