Fieldwork Brewing San Mateo Gives Back Locally
Fieldwork Brewery at Bay Meadows San Mateo was recently showcased in a San Mateo Daily Journal article for their generosity. The popular taproom is not only a wonderful setting to meet up with friends but also an organization which gives back to the local community. Already a favorite among residents and employees of Bay Meadows San Mateo companies such as OpenText, Survey Monkey, Guidewire, Workday, Zuora and more, the beer garden is cooking up a new line of pizza’s paired with their popular beer!
“The community accepted us with open arms, and it’s been important to give back,” said owner Barry Braden, who is committed to giving back to the people who support Fieldwork Brewery. Last quarter, the company donated $18,000 spread between six different Bay Area organizations ranging from an LGBTQ Center in Oakland to domestic violence services. The generous philanthropic effort involves the entire Fieldwork team, with the employees making donation decisions. The employees at each location collectively decide how they want to donate the company’s allocated funds. “I think it is a fantastic way to involve our employees in the community and for them to see the money stay in the community it serves,” Braden said.
Bartender Alexis Sesma said the culture between employees and the community is something she looks forward to when coming in to work. “We all work great together and I love it here.”
Investing in the community isn’t the company’s only focus. It is also investing in a pizza oven to expand its menu with details still needed to be finalized. In the next few months, the Bay Meadows beer garden plans to offer Detroit-style pizza for around $20 in various flavors such as Margherita, cheese or mushroom that will complement the wide range of beers the brewery offers.
Haven’t had Detroit-style pizza yet? Satnick describes it as “… really rich, it’s thick and fluffy, it’s really good and it’s a great shareable dish.”
Currently, the San Mateo Fieldwork Brewing location doesn’t have a full-scale kitchen but offers a variety of sandwiches and bar food such as pretzels, hummus, pub mix, bratwurst and multiple sandwiches that range in price from $5 to $16.
