We’ve rounded up an agenda packed with fun including Eart Day celebrations, a kids pop-up, paint nights, cooking classes, and much, much more. When you live just steps from Caltrain it’s easy to get from here to ‘there’ car-free! Too Hot to Handle – Clayroom San Mateo Exhibit runs through May 15! Stop by Monday-Friday from 10-9 or Sat/Sun from 10-6 at 3050 South Delaware Street to view these extraordinary clay mugs hand crafted by our community.

Basecamp San Mateo Run Club at Bay Meadows = Wed Evenings and Sat Mornings

April 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27, Bay Meadows Run Club. Hit the 3-mile loop at Bay Meadows with your neighbors Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. This weekly event welcomes all people at all levels (walkers included). Generously launched, led and organized by our newest retailers at Basecamp San Mateo, the group often gathers in Town Square for a Blue Bottle coffee or at Fieldwork Brewing after each run.

April 6, 13, 20, 27, College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Shop seasonally and fresh each Saturday from 9am to 1pm (year-round) at San Mateo’s largest farmer’s market located at 1700 West Hillsdale Boulevard. Bring a big shopping bag or two because the farmers’ tables are filled with the freshest seasonal fruits and vegetables to delightful gifts like cut flowers, local honey, jams and sauces, locally-made olive oil, and chocolates. Also find fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, cheeses, and seafood. Watch for specialty greens!

April 2, The monthly FWB San Mateo Pizza Party returns Tuesday, April 2 at 5pm! Every first Tuesday of the month, @fieldworkbrewing_sanmateo is throwing a pizza party in the Bay Meadows Beer Garden- $13, all you can eat pizza, 5-8pm or until the pizza is gone. Be there or be square (like the Detroit-style all-you-can-eat pizza)

April 2, Zumba Classes in San Mateo. Get ready to dance, sweat, and have a blast as expert instructors guide you through a high-energy workout.

April 5, First Friday & Earth Day Kickoff. The San Mateo County History Museum in Redwood City will be open without admission fees the first Friday of every month as part of its continuing “FREE First Fridays” program.

April 6, Fixit Clinic In-Person. Part of a month-long Earth Day celebration in San Mateo. Bring: broken electronics, appliances, toys, etc. for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair.

April 6, Sound Union Member Showcase. Three groups of Sound Union members will be featured, playing some rock, folk and Americana style favorites and originals in Redwood City.

April 6-13, San Mateo Celebrates! This is a dynamic annual April celebration — strategically timed with National Library Week — that showcases and supports the richness of Library’s activities.

April 7, Wine 101 in San Carlos. Learn how wine is made, decode wine labels, understand how to taste and talk about wine, plus important grapes and styles, and how to purchase, store, and serve.

April 11, Bay Area Excursion: Historic Estate & High Tea. Enjoy a remarkable trip to Filoli Historic House & Garden in Woodside following by a delectable high tea at Lovejoy’s.

April 13, San Mateo Celebrates! Enjoy an all-day entertainment on the Central Park stage, surrounded by 40+ curated artist and maker booths, a kid zone, and food and beverage trucks.

April 13, Autism Acceptance Fun Walk/Run. Join a fun 5K run/walk in San Mateo to promote Autism Acceptance during April Autism Acceptance month. Pre and post race celebration.

April 14, Airport Runway Run. Like an aircraft on takeoff, you will traverse the length of the entire 2,600-foot runway of San Carlos Airport in the most unique running, walking, and strolling experiences in the Bay Area.

April 17, Grapes and Giggles April Comedy Show. See comedians featured on late-night TV, Comedy Central, SF Sketchfest, Bay Area Festivals and more at the Domenico Winery in San Carlos.

April 20, Earth Day celebrations in the Main Library Oak Room in San Mateo:

   Project Super Plants. Learn how to grow California Native “Super Plants” that grow larger root systems to store more CO2.

   Earth Day Tabling. Join local sustainability partners who will share tips and resources to help you reduce waste and save money.

   Game & Puzzle Swap. Swap out your gently used games or puzzles for a new to you puzzle or game.

   All Gender Clothing Swap. Come to the San Mateo Public Library to swap old children’s and adult clothes for new to you clothes. This swap will take place in the Laurel and Cedar Rooms.

April 20, Earth Day. Celebrate Earth Day at Twin Pines Lane in Belmont. The event is a great opportunity to learn about the environment and how we can do better to protect it.

April 20, A Bluegrass Evening with The Slocan Ramblers. The multi-award winning Slocan Ramblers will be performing an intimate live show on the Loft Stage in Redwood City.

April 21, Kouign Amann. Students will make dough from scratch as well as learn to roll, form and bake these pastries in class. Class at Baking Arts in San Mateo.

April 24, Paint Night. Paint a masterpiece with instructor Joyce Faulknor in San Carlos and enjoy a complementary drink when purchasing an entree from the SC noodle House menu.

April 24, Rainn Wilson: Soul Boom. Enjoy a deep and inspiring conversation that is guaranteed to make you think and laugh and think again at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.

April 26, Comedy Night at the Vinyl Room. Head to Burlingame for a night of non-stop laughter as talented comedians from Netflix, Hulu and Comedy Central take the stage to entertain you.

April 27, Kids Pop-Up Shop. This pop-up shop event in Redwood City, run by kids, gives them a venue to showcase their wares, feel empowered, and experience running their own small business. From homemade slime, jewelry, and more, come see the treasurers that await.

April 27, San Mateo Bay Trail Ride. Move San Mateo & San Mateo’s Age-Friendly Coalition are joining to organize a group bicycle ride along San Mateo’s Bayshore trail.

April 28, The Silicon Valley Whisk(e)y Festival. Dear Whisk(e)y Lovers, the 2nd Annual Silicon Valley Whisk(e)y Festival is coming to Domenico Winery in San Carlos.

April 28, Spring Search. Drop in any time between noon – 2:30 pm to the San Mateo Arboretum Greenhouse & Nursery. Children will follow clues and search the Arboretum for answers to questions about plants.

April 28, Downtown San Mateo Boba Day. Enjoy samples, deals, and special treats at your favorite Downtown San Mateo boba shops. Bring the family to B Street for crafts and activities.

April/May Sessions. When signing up for 6-week classes at Clayroom San Mateo, one signs up by selecting (signing up for) the 1st class. Classes 2-6 will occur on a weekly cadence during the same day of the week and time-slot. 6-week in-studio classes for pottery.

Bicycle Sundays. A 3.8-mile segment of Cañada Road along Crystal Springs Regional Trail is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities. Check for holiday closures.

 

Experience Midurban life. Bay Meadows is a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of open space to enjoy all-year long. Whether it’s growing your own vegetables in an organic community garden, playing a game of pick-up basketball after work, team building over bocce in the beer garden, picnicking with family on warm summer nights or with a run around the park, there’s no shortage of green space to explore.
