Swoon-worthy Summer Stone Fruit Recipes

It’s prime time to score some truly delectable stone fruit at the local farmers market, and lucky for us San Mateo County is full of options. Catch the College of San Mateo Farmers Market offered at 1700 W Hillsdale Blvd, San Mateo on Saturdays, which is less than 3 miles from Bay Meadows and Tuesday afternoons from 3-7pm through October you can hit the 25th Avenue in San Mateo Farmers’ Market, less than a mile from our neighborhood to find all your farm fresh favorites.

As much as we love eating peaches, plums, apricots, and nectarines out of hand, they’re also delightful in sweet and savory recipes. Stock up on fresh stone fruits and start planning your next Bay Meadows summer picnic or BBQ with the help of these 10 recipes:

Peaches:

Savory Peach Chicken. Peaches give this quick chicken dinner a complex flavor.

Salted Caramel Peach Splits. Sweet grilled peaches and ice-cream are covered with gooey salted caramel sauce.

Sweet & Spicy Peach, Chicken, Hatch Chile and Spinach Pizza. A sweet and spicy pizza the whole family will love.

Stone fruit tips: When buying stone fruit, skip the squeeze and give it a sniff – if it has a sweet aroma, it’s ripe. Once ripe, storing ripe stone fruit in the crisper drawer, uncovered and unwashed, will prolong its eating life. When you’re ready to use, wash in cold water. To pit the fruit, slice along the seam and in a full circle around the stone; then twist in opposite directions to separate the halves. Remove the stone with a knife end.
