We’ve rounded up a San Mateo and SF Peninsula event calendar full of ways to celebrate the new spring season. Don your green or partake in Fremont’s FOG Holi Festival to immerse yourself in every color of the rainbow. Shop HEAD WEST in downtown San Mateo, join the Bay Meadows Run Club and congratulate Basecamp on their 1-year milestone, get into the garden, play with clay, shop farm fresh, and so much more. With a diverse range of activities just beyond your San Mateo doorstep, you’ll find something for everyone. Explore our curated agenda and map out a month bursting with fun and adventure!
March 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26, 29, Bay Meadows Run Club with Basecamp San Mateo. Join this free fun run Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings at 8am. Meet at 3050 S. Delaware for a 2-, 3-, 4- or 6-mile loop (something for everyone) to get moving. Run, jog, or walk. Happening weekly – rain or shine. All paces and people are welcomed. Members often gather in Town Square for a Blue Bottle coffee or at Fieldwork Brewing Beer Garden after each run. Plus, there’s no fee! You heard right – membership is not required. This is a community building fun run, compliments of our neighbors at Basecamp Bay Meadows.
March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Fill your pantry with artisanal goodies! Shop seasonally and fresh each Saturday from 9am to 1pm (year-round) at San Mateo’s largest farmer’s market located at 1700 West Hillsdale Boulevard. Seasonal Highlight: Mandarins.
March 1, Air Racing Exhibit Grand Opening. Get ready for an adrenaline-packed day at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos!
March 1-2, Spring Kickoff Weekend at Filoli in Woodside. On Saturday, enjoy performances by the Northern California Hanfu Association in stunning traditional Chinese attire. On Sunday, dive into J-Fashion with a bow-making activity for all ages and browse unique accessories from local vendors.
March 1-2, SpongeBob the Musical! BOREL DRAMA Dream Theatre presents SpongeBob at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.
March 1-31, $5 Handpicked Movies at Hillsdale in San Mateo. Handpicked, the exclusive movie series that brings timeless classics and modern masterpieces back to the big screen. Each film is a celebration of storytelling, artistry, and the unforgettable moments that made us fall in love with cinema.
March 1-April 13, Downtown Parcade in Redwood City. This 18-hole mini golf course is ready to play, complete with glow-in-the-dark nighttime rounds for an extra challenge.
March 7, First Friday Nights. Swing into the weekend with live music, a food truck, animals, and fun at CuriOdyssey in San Mateo.
March 7, SMC History Museum First Fridays. Explore exhibits and enjoy additional special programs for children and adults including docent-led tours, story readings, craft projects and more in San Mateo.
March 8, Help Beautify San Mateo Central Park’s Rose Garden. The Arboretum Society needs energetic volunteers to spread compost and mulch in the Rose Garden at Central Park.
March 9, Public Safety Fair. Explore a variety of public safety equipment like firetrucks and patrol cars during the San Carlos Farmers’ Market.
March 9, Bike Skills 101 — Fundamental Bike Handling Skills in Redwood City. There’s no time like now to learn to ride your bike (better).
March 15, “FOG Holi” Festival of Colors in Fremont. Launch Spring 2025 with a festival of colors in nearby Fremont, CA.
March 15, Hillsdale Reimagined. RSVP and join neighbors on March 15 from 12 to 3 PM at Pinstripes San Mateo to explore how your input has helped shape Hillsdale Reimagined. Discover the vision, ask questions, and connect with fellow community members at this insightful meeting.
March 16, HEAD WEST Marketplace. Visit Downtown San Mateo’s B Street from 11am to 5pm for HEAD WEST Marketplace on the third Sunday of every month in 2025. Browse unique gifts or find a treat for yourself from 50 local Makers, Merchants, Crafters, Designers, and Artists.
March 16, Flying Leprechaun Skydive! The Luck o’ the Irish meets the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos for a special aerial celebration in honor of St. Patrick himself.
March 20, Insider’s Garden Tour. Discover Filoli in Woodside’s garden anew on this exclusive tour with the seasoned horticulture staff who know every inch of it.
March 21, St. Paddy’s Day Party at Domenico Winery. Guests of all ages are invited to celebrate Irish culture from 5:30 to 9:30pm in San Carlos with live Celtic music by Erica & Friends, dancing, partake in delicious Irish food and festive drinks for sale. There’ll be kid’s activities like Irish Folklore and a Leprechaun Treasure Hunt.
March 21-23, The International Gem & Jewelry Show. America’s longest running direct-to-consumer jewelry show is coming to the San Mateo County Event Center.
March 22, Live Music: Stone Temple Parents (at McGoverns). 90’s Rock Tribute in San Mateo.
March 22, Kouign Amann Class. Crispy and caramelized on the outside with a delicate sweet and buttery center. Students will make dough from scratch, learn to roll, form and bake these pastries in class at Baking Arts in San Mateo.
March 29, Jazz on B Street. On Saturday, March 29th, from 1-3pm as the Sizzling Cactuses, a talented trio of musicians from Aragon High School, bring their vibrant jazz sound to Downtown San Mateo!
March 29, Cinema & Chill. Hangout and enjoy family friendly movies – free every Saturday at Chill Spot Rendezvous in San Mateo. Bring yourself and/or your family for movies throughout the day.
March 30, Aviation Exploration Day. Explore a variety of exciting aviation careers and meet professionals at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos.
February/March Sessions at Clayroom San Mateo. When signing up for 6-week classes, one signs up by selecting (signing up for) the 1st class. Classes 2-6 will occur on a weekly cadence during the same day of the week and time-slot. 6-week in-studio classes for pottery.
Dueling Pianos on Friday/Saturdays. Dueling Pianos at Faith and Spirits in the heart of San Carlos! Enjoy cocktails and an all-request sing-along from 9pm – midnight.
Family Pizza Night at Bel Mateo Bowl in San Mateo. 2 hours of bowling, use of rental shoes, 1 large one topping pizza per lane and 1 pitcher of soft drink per lane on Sundays. Elevate your Friday or Saturday night with Incredibowl with interactive graphics and games projected right on the lanes! These animations interact with the ball as it rolls down the lane for a whole new bowling experience.
Hillsdale Trivia Night: Every other Monday at Hillsdale. Gather your pals every other Monday from 6-8pm for Trivia Night hosted by Sandcastle Entertainment! Fantastic food, beer and fun at The Refuge.
Bicycle Sundays. A 3.8-mile segment of Cañada Road along Crystal Springs Regional Trail is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities. Check for holiday closures.
