We’re thrilled to welcome Bahche Mezzehouse & Wine Bar to the heart of Bay Meadows Town Square, a warm, locally owned spot that feels like it was always meant to be part of our neighborhood. Bahche is family operated, with deep roots across the San Francisco Peninsula: the Karadogan family has long been woven into the region’s culinary scene, and now they bring their next chapter to San Mateo. The name is a beautiful play on words, Bahche nods to both “orchard” (in Greek) and “garden” (in Turkish), a fitting metaphor for a place steeped in flavor, growth, and gathering.

For the Karadogans, Bahche is truly a family passion project, with a sense of welcome felt immediately. There’s a cozy, fireside pet-friendly patio for al fresco dining with friends or four-legged companions, and inside, the space also shines as a wine bar, with more than 60 curated wines that pair beautifully with mezze and shared plates. The menu celebrates flavors of the Mediterranean, dishes like paella and souvlaki share space with spreads, seafood, and seasonal plates, all crafted to bring people together.

As part of the Bay Meadows story, Bahche fits seamlessly into our vision of a connected, walkable neighborhood where gathering places are steps from home. “I just wanted to come and be part of the community and create a destination for the people that live in the area,” Yusuf Karadogan said.  Whether you’re grabbing mezze with neighbors, unwinding with a glass of wine after work, or savoring brunch on the patio, Bahche is designed for connection.
