Pausa Makes Michelin 2018 List of Bib Gourmands
The San Mateo foodie scene is getting better by the day, evidenced by the recent announcement that Pausa, in Downtown San Mateo, was one of 4 regional additions to the 2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand, a list which honors restaurants with “exceptional good food at moderate prices.” This is no small accomplishment as there are only four restaurants which made this year’s list located on the Peninsula.
Pausa offers fresh and authentic Italian fare made from scratch with the bounty of Northern California. Chef Owner Andrea Giuliani pairs these delicious offerings with an all Italian wine list and craft cocktails and spritzes. The friendly and knowledgeable team work tirelessly to ensure your every pause is a memorable one.
The popular San Mateo restaurant is a perfect complement for today’s busy lifestyles. Pausa is Italian for “pause” and Owners Steve Ugur and Andrea Giuliani intend for their restaurant to be just that. The theme subtly permeates your entire dining experience as the restaurant’s logo, an artistic interpretation of a pause button, greets you above the front door and can be found on each menu.
The restaurant is the perfect venue for guests to take a short recess from their daily pace of life and enjoy a memorable dining experience. They’ve even added a Parklet for diners to enjoy the amazing year-round weather we enjoy on the Peninsula.Their menu offers a variety of fresh, regional Italian foods sure to please the most discriminating palate. Be sure to visit their website are the seasonal lunch, dinner, dessert and wine menus change quite regularly.
Haven’t visited Pausa yet? Here’s what a few Yelpers had to say about the popular San Mateo dining spot:
Truly a gem. Beautiful interior and lighting. Modern yet inviting exterior. The timeless and minimal design has been carried out with care and class. Good service. Great ingredients. Delicious food and presentation. – Amanfly P.
We absolutely love this place. Any restauranteur who wonders about how to get great reviews, he/she should visit Pausa. It does everything right. We love the location, the atmosphere, the food, and service has been great each time. Even the music/noise level is just right. We’ve tried the cured meats, the scallops & burrata appetizers, pizzas, and several varieties of their pasta, and have not been disappointed. – Julie T.
Loved the menu selection, from the meats and cheeses, all the way to the desserts. Loved the list of wines and spirits as well. We ordered three different entrees – swordfish sausage, grilled pork chop and flat iron steak; all of which were very delicious. What stuck to us the most; however, was the service. Very nice servers and staff. – John S.
