Fill Your Summer Social Calendar
Summer has landed in San Mateo and it’s time to get out and enjoy the sunshine, some live music, summer produce, and all the BBQ inspired dishes you can handle. We’ve rounded up a few summer activities to get on your social calendar. And remember, if you’re looking to stay closer to home with your own summer fun, you have 18-acres of rambling open space at Bay Meadows, right outside your door at The Morgan.
Downtown San Mateo. Sport your red, white and blue at the 4th of July in Central Park and partake in family fun activities kicking off at 11:00am with a concert from 12:00-2:00pm featuring Club 90 (Party Mix). Sway to the sounds of Bay Area bands during the Central Park Music Series, running on Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm from June-August. Food vendors we can look forward too are Jack’s Prime, Fletch’s Taqueria, Lilo’s Kitchen, Sweet Cheeks Puffs, Fletch’s Catering, Johnny Empanda and TUK Eats. Looking for some laughs? Bobabia’s Stand Up Comedy has you covered with comedians as seen on Comedy Central, Netflix, Late Night shows, Youtube, SF Sketchfest, TikTok and more.
San Mateo Event Center. Foodies unite in a three-day event where family and friends gather for food and drink, shopping, and entertainment. Foodieland Night Market on July 1-3 at San Mateo Events Center. This exclusive festival in the heart of San Mateo is inspired by the Night Markets of Asia. Featuring over 150 vendors, you’ll experience a variety of amazing foods and drinks, arts, crafts, games, and live entertainment in one great location. If you miss it in July, don’t worry it’ll return September 23-25. Also in July, the International Gem & Jewelry Show returns to the center on July 8-10 where you can shop directly from wholesalers & manufacturers.
Hillsdale Happenings. Celebrate summer on the Pinstripes patio with a Summer BBQ Series on July 1, August 5, and September 2. This all you can eat and drink party features summer BBQ inspired dishes from the grill with local musicians performing to keep the party going. Take an interactive walk through the streets and neighborhoods surrounding Hillsdale during the Reimagine Hillsdale Site Walk Tour on July 9. Sweat it out as CycleBar San Mateo hosts a free pop up ride in the Hillsdale Mall on July 16. The CycleBar pop up class will be 30 minutes long. Meet on the ground floor of the Hillsdale Mall right in front of the Macy’s entrance. Later in summer, Hillsdale Blvd plays host to a Classic and Custom Car Show on September 10 with music, local vendors, food & beverages.
Mosey to the Farmers Market. Summer produce is calling your name! College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market is open Saturdays, year-round. It’s the best place to shop for seasonal fruits and veggies, as well as other local goods like honey, eggs, or artisan cheese.
Coyote Point Area. Enjoy a beautiful night filled with music, dancing, great food and drinks as Par3 hosts Night at the Green Music Series on Thursdays this summer. Fill your night with music, science, animals and fun at CuriOdyssey’s First Friday Nights on the first Friday of every month, from 5 pm until 8 pm, where parents and kids celebrate together at CuriOdyssey, on July 1, August 5 + September 2.
