Get the scoop at our local scoop shop Tin Pot Creamery in Bay Meadows’ Town Square mere steps from The Morgan! The name Tin Pot Creamery comes from one of the first ice cream recipes to appear in an English cookbook…it was published in 1733! The recipe says to fill six “tin ice-pots” with cream and freeze using ice and salt. What a sweet salute to everyone’s classic favorite dessert.

Tin Pot Creamery started in creative genius and owner, Becky’s kitchen as an ice cream of the month club in 2012. Becky is a mom and pastry chef with a degree in nutrition and one heck of a sweet tooth. Drawing from her degree and training, Becky obsessively tinkered to perfect all the recipes and handcrafted each flavor one quart at a time. She made two new flavors per month, got dry ice from a local grocery store to keep the ice cream frozen and hand-delivered it to people in the Bay Area.

Tin Pot’s recipes are decades in the making starting when Becky wrote her first ice cream menu as a teenager. Becky learned the value of creativity from her Dad and how much better homemade food tastes from her Mom. She combines these two things together to create the most delicious desserts…we think you can taste the love.

Tin Pot Creamery is a small batch ice creamery with a production kitchen and several scoop shops in the Bay Area. The team at Tin Pot handcrafts ice creams, toppings, sauces, mix-ins and baked goods every day. The menu changes seasonally and there is a strong emphasis on organic and local ingredients.

Here are a few tried and true Tin Pot favorites:

Cookie Monster. It’s full of cookie dough pieces and chocolate cookie crumbles, which are both handcrafted in the bake shop. These goodies are layered throughout ice cream made with grass-fed dairy and pure vanilla. It brings “Cookies and Cream” and “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough” together into one blissful scoop.

Salted Butterscotch. Handcrafted brown sugar caramel and grass-fed, California dairy make this ice cream incredible. This flavor has just the right amount of sea salt and pure vanilla to make it irresistible. This recipe has gone through the most iterations to perfect and is one of the best-selling flavors in our scoop shops.

Coffee with Cocoa Nib Toffee. Creamy and balanced coffee ice cream made with Verve Coffee and grass-fed dairy. This flavor gets taken up another notch with crunchy, handcrafted cocoa nib toffee from the bake shop.

Blue Jasmine Tea. Light, floral, creamy and gently sweet with undertones of jasmine and green tea. This ice cream is approachable yet unique and is naturally blue!

In an interview with Bay Meadows, Becky listed her 3 flavors that describe Bay Meadows as: Salted Butterscotch, Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie and Blackberry Jamble. (We’re taking these flavors to mean life in balance -the perfect classic combo with nature inspiring its local flavor. We cannot agree more, Becky!)
