Meet Hsu-Lien, Marketing Maven at our Local Whole Foods

Whole Foods San Mateo is (without at doubt) one of our favorite neighbors at Bay Meadows. With easy access by foot or bike, the convenient location makes last minute pick-up items or picking up the fixin’s for a picnic a breeze. We understand that your lives are busy, time is valuable and you want more ways to enjoy it. When we heard about WFSM’s personal shopping service, we caught up with Hsu-Lien, Marketing and Community Relations Team Leader to get the scoop on all the latest from Whole Foods San Mateo.

We’d describe Hsu-Lien as creative, driven and a team-player. Her passion shines through in all that her fingers touch: “I love that I get to connect with everything related to Whole Foods Market: food, people and places. It runs the gamut from team members, new store openings, vendors, schools, festivals, non profits and the community. I’ve got access to some of the best stuff…and people on this planet!”

Meet Jessica and Christine. Personal Shoppers at Whole Foods!

Meet Jessica and Christine. Personal Shoppers at Whole Foods!

Q: We are thrilled that your store provides Personal Shopping and Bay Meadows qualifies for FREE delivery on orders over $200! Can you describe the service a bit more and share what Christine & Jessica are most likely to see in an order?

A: To start off, residents will be invited for a private tour with our Personal Shopping team to walk the store and select their items. If they decide to sign up, we can complete all the paperwork at the store! Here’s the link for more information:   http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/service/personal-shopping-service-san-mateo

Q: My 3 all time favorite recipes via the Whole Foods Market website are:

  1. The Pan-Roasted Shrimp and Lobster Stew – super easy and delicious – it’s the perfect fancy dinner to show off when company comes to town!  Ask you friends to bring the champagne, and baguettes.
  2. Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad with Sherry-Walnut Vinaigrette – my classic, healthy and quick go to as I use packaged beets (already peeled and cleaned)!
  3. …and of course Cherry Clafouti.

Q: Are you able to give us a hint at a few things we can look forward to this summer/fall at Whole Foods?

New Services: In July we will be rolling out our GatheredTable program where their Brand Ambassadors will be onsite at the store to connect with the San Mateo community!

New Products:
Made Right Here fresh pressed juice with Amazing Grass
Tanka Bison Bars: If you’re living a Paleo lifestyle, you don’t want a glorified cookie when you’re out doing your caveman stuff. These bars are made with real buffalo meat and cranberries because Tanka knows what it takes to keep up with herds of bison and saber-toothed tigers (or mean house cats).
Miette’s de Pain brioche hot dog and hamburger buns, produced in San Mateo
Rubicon Bakery – 4 pack cupcakes
JM Rosen Cheesecakes: Handmade cheesecakes from Petaluma, Ca
Nona Lim noodles: Nona Lim makes delicious dairy and gluten-free soups and meals using fresh, local and organic ingredients in her kitchen in Oakland, California. This stuff is really tasty and doesn’t have any of that “cardboard” texture many lesser gluten-free products have
High Mowing Sprouted Seeds
Blue Bottle New Orleans Iced Coffee:The folks over at Blue Bottle have solved one of the world’s most pressing problems: what coffee to drink when it’s warm out? Their new packaged coffee is cold-brewed with roasted chicory at the Fort Point Brewing Company, then sent up to Clover’s headquarters in Petaluma to be mixed with milk and cane sugar.
WFM Community Grains cookies – We secretly call these magnificent cookies “the irresistible diet wreckers.” They’re made with 100 percent stone-ground whole grain from the Bay Area’s own Community Grains.

Just for Fun:
5 WFMSM items in my personal shopping bag would include:  1) Saint Benoit meyer lemon organic yogurt; 2) Red Hill Farms rainbow eggs; 3) Cambazola Black Label triple cream soft-ripened blue cheese; 4) L’ Artisan Macaron – Authentic French style macarons; 5)Panorama Grass Fed beef

The celebrity I’d most like to have at a dinner party or BBQ would be:   Mads Mikkelsen
Best deli sandwich for a picnic in Bay Meadows Park:  BLT with avocado on brioche
The one item Fido must have from our store would be: AliteDesign Boa collar & leash
3 words I’d use to describe Bay Meadows are: “Its About Time!”

What I love most about San Mateo is: the perfect gorgeous weather and central location to all the BEST things the San Francisco Bay area has to offer! The City, Napa, Carmel, Yosemite, and the Pacific Ocean.
