Autumn Farm Tours

The fall harvest season is full of festivals, foliage, hay rides and fresh pumpkin pie. Fall is also the ideal time to grab a light sweater and step outside to partake in a variety of old fashioned family fun around the area. Here are just a few local farms and ranches to stop in this season:

Harley Farms Goat Dairy is one of the very few farmstead dairies in US that raise milking goats and make cheese from their milk on the farm. Harley Farms is open year-round for farm and dairy tours, retreats, and events in our atmospheric hayloft. Take a stroll into the farm to see goats and llamas in paddocks and pastures. Don’t miss the hayloft with the magnificent fir table and carved chairs, which hosts parties and farm dinners. The Cheese Shop at the dairy features award-winning ricotta, feta, chevre and fromage blanc cheeses, plus a luxurious range of goat milk lotions and soaps, jellies and honey. Pack a picnic basket and relax at the tables. Harley Farms hosts a myriad of events and activities during this festive time of year, visit their calendar for a detailed list.

Pie Ranch cultivates a healthy and just food system from seed to table through food education and farmer training. You can find seasonal offerings such as strawberry-rhubarb & lemon buttermilk pie, heirloom wheat, eggs and other fresh, organic produce at the Farm Stand. A must-do at the ranch is the Work Day & Barn Dance where you can pitch in and lend a helping hand for a few hours, followed by a farm tour to peek at the historic Steele Ranch buildings, visits the goats, cows, chickens, and pigs and when possible, includes sampling from the fields. A packed house for a potluck dinner followed by music and dancing will round out your day on the ranch! This very popular dance is open to the community, reservations are requested.
