2014: The Year in Numbers

Where did 2014 go? Seems like yesterday that the Welcome Center had just gone up and there were only a few dozen residents living at Bay Meadows.

It’s 2015 and an entire community has sprung up. Hundreds of residents now call Bay Meadows home with hundreds more visiting each week to play in the parks, bike on the bike paths and see our exciting new neighborhood.

While all the milestones of 2014 are too numerous to tick off in one blog post, we thought we’d outline a few big ones. Being in the heart of Silicon Valley, we’re going to rely on numbers to tell the story. Following are highlights of the year, in numbers:

Movies in the Meadow

Movies in the Meadow

2000+ – Number of folks who attended our Movies in the Meadow event in July. The throngs of people were entertained by Ferris Bueller, shopped at dozens of local specialty vendors, enjoyed the area’s favorite food trucks and imbibed the best of Grape and Grain. Next summer, we’ll do it all over again … 3 times!

232 – That’s how many townhomes have been completed at Bay Meadows. Plus, 80 townhomes – the Brightside collection from Shea Homes – will be ready in January. Canterbury, from TRI Pointe Homes, is over 50% sold already. And 2 collections – Amelia and Landsdowne – have sold out completely.

160 – Talented students started hitting the books and the playing fields and the 3-D printers and more at Nueva School. This high school for gifted youth opened in September adding exuberance and even more fun to Bay Meadows.

108 – Apartments for rent in San Mateo … at Bay Meadows, that is. The brand new Field House will welcome new residents in January.

99 – Plots in our community garden, Persimmon Park, which opened for Bay Meadows homeowners in August. Which brings us 15 acres completed of what will ultimately be 18 acres of parks in total at Bay Meadows. Not too shabby.

PUBLIC Bike Giveaways

84PUBLIC Bikes given away by Bay Meadows. Landsdowne homebuyers each got a shiny new bike as a welcome gift PLUS we gave away bikes at each of our big events this year.

MomDayCollage

48 – That’s how many Mondays we presented Momdays in Paddock Park during 2014. Let’s see … with our average attendance at Momdays being probably 30 families, that means we helped create nearly 1,500 smiling faces throughout the year!

16Number of spicy wings consumed by food-eating contest winner Derek Clary at our Red Hot Roundup fall event. In addition, 8 favorite food trucks fed guests and 1 San Francisco baseball team won the Pennant.

4 – Bay Meadows Station 4, that is, which we broke ground on in late 2014. This new commercial building offers 210,000 square feet of Class A office space. Station 4 represents the first of 5 buildings that will bring a 21st century campus to the region and also will house Bay Meadows’ vibrant and unique retailers.
