Construction milestones checked off at Bay Meadows
Roadways, cable, gas, electric, water, streetlights, even the sewer. Done and done! These are some of the elements comprising Bay Meadows’ infrastructure, which is now 100 percent complete. And that feat is thanks, in part, to Frank Vargas and his team from Townsend Management Inc. (TMI).
We caught up with Frank recently as he wraps up his multi-year work at Bay Meadows. Frank is an active member of the Operating Engineers Local 3 union. “The big heavy equipment that you see on construction sites? That’s us.”
Frank’s role at Bay Meadows started in 2008 beginning with the demolition of the racetrack. He was hired as field superintendent, overseeing all contractors. Frank says he’s pleased to pass on a great project to residents, visitors and others. Now, kids are playing in the parks, people are biking along the trails and it’s a real neighborhood.
While hundreds of Bay Meadows homes are complete, three parks are active and a new apartment complex is bursting with residents, construction continues at a rapid pace.
Bay Meadows Station 4
This 210,000 square foot state-of-the-art office building is the first of five, just steps from the Caltrain station. As Station 4 rises from the ground, a “steel topping” is set for May and construction will be complete in June 2016.
The center of the retail, entertainment and commercial activity at Bay Meadows, we’ll break ground at the Town Square in May.
Canterbury and Brightside
Canterbury from TRI Pointe Homes is a collection of 76 townhomes that are close to completion. The final sales release for Canterbury is March 21st, and it will sell out. If interested in the final 10 homes, get pre-qualified here>>
Brightside from Shea Homes is an 80 townhome community under construction. Twenty nine Brightside homes have already sold with the next sales release on March 14th>>
Russell/Rendezvous Apartment Buildings
In April, Bay Meadows will break ground on its next apartments in San Mateo, Russell and Rendezvous. Field House, a 108-unit rental community, recently opened and is now nearly 50 percent occupied.
A park for long strolls, public art and bocce ball with colleagues or friends, Landing Green is a linear park flanked by residential buildings. It will be complete in March with a very special opening ceremony.
New construction, luxury apartment living is now available in San Mateo. Located within commuting distance to San Francisco and Silicon Valley, with easy access to downtown San Mateo and Redwood City via Caltrain, Field House at Bay Meadows is the perfect place to live and play.
