Meet Christine Kupczak, Marketing Director of the Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo.  Christine is a San Francisco native and moved to the Peninsula not too long ago.  She is very familiar with what families on the Peninsula are searching for—free family fun for all!  Christine and I recently met for lunch, and she shared the amazing news regarding renovations at the Hillsdale Mall, which will begin this spring and will cover in detail in another story.  In the meantime, we would like to share some fun family events that the Hillsdale Mall will be hosting.

Day Of Aloha

On May 1, bring the whole family to Hillsdale Mall to learn all about Hawaiian life and culture! They are bringing the Islands to Hillsdale with a day full of traditional dance, music, and crafts. Mark your calendars for May 1^st from 1-3pm!

Happy Birds

They are also excited to announce the return of Happy Birds in June. Christine said that if you haven’t seen this one, this is your chance! Happy Birds have been performing since 1989, and they haven’t slowed down yet. What can you expect from the show? Enjoy amazing feats by colorful parrots who ride bicycles, sing songs, and even play basketball, and learn about what makes them such a unique species. Happy Birds will be performing on June 11^th from 1-2pm. Don’t miss it!

In case you didn’t know, Hillsdale Mall has a Kids’ Club exclusively for children 12 and under. As a member of this club, your kids can enjoy all kinds of perks, such as shopping for new school supplies or working on the latest craft projects! If you are looking for kid friendly restaurants while you are there; be sure to check out California Pizza Kitchen or Cheesecake Factory they both offer healthy family fare.  If you’re looking for something a little more upscale there’s Paul Martin’s serving fresh, locally sourced seasonal food, prepared from scratch.

We can’t wait for the completion of the newly renovated mall. They will have so many amazing amenities to offer, including an upscale movie cinema, bowling alley and bocce courts, and a new outdoor dining terrace, just to name a few. Being adjacent to the mall, we couldn’t be happier with all of the exciting plans to come in 2017-2018.

And let’s not forget that Caltrain station is located right across the street, making it easy access to hop right over there!  (or walk or cycle if you live or work at Bay Meadows)!
