View the Murals at Hillsdale Shopping Center

You’re invited to view the new murals that brighten up the season starting Friday, Oct. 28. Hillsdale Shopping Center presents artists David Polka and Charlo in collaboration with San Francisco based Themes and Projects and Texas founded Artist Uprising, a global network of artists. These celebrated muralists created art LIVE earlier this month. Their vision and technique has come to life is currently on display at our neighborhood shopping center for a limited-time.

David Polka, a visual artist and graphic designer is currently based in Oakland. Originally from Las Cruces, New Mexico, he moved to the East Bay 8 years ago to immerse himself in the area’s thriving art scene. His practice includes illustration, interior and exterior murals, and installation. A graduate of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, he has been exhibiting work professionally since 2006 in group and solo exhibitions across the US, in Oakland, San Francisco, New York, Boulder, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Anchorage and Honolulu.

Charlo, a designer, visual artist and muralist immigrated to the US in 2013 and currently lives in Denver, CO. He combines symbols, letters and abstract linear movement to create one-dimensional worlds full of hidden themes and messages. His work is exhibited around the country via garage doors, walls and office buildings.
