Making Memories in Miniature
It takes talented minds to create something innovative from an Xbox Kinnect scanner and a lazy Susan. Fortunately, three just such minds came together as students at UC Berkeley to create Twindom, a company set to capture memories in a whole new way. Headquartered in Berkeley, they’ve set up their studio in the heart of San Mateo.
Twindom seeks to “provide accessible, affordable and convenient 3D scanning and printing services to all.” And they are doing just that by allowing anyone to print 3D memories using their unique system. The process is simple and the result is a little bit mind-blowing: think “mini-me” or your own wedding-cake-topper, in your image.
Founders David Pastewka, Richard Berwick and Will Drevno met in a mobile app development class and competition in 2011 at UC Berkeley. After multiple ideas and projects, the team began making scans of family and friends. From there they debuted at the Exploratorium Store and were an instant hit.
Twindom is another example of San Mateo’s draw to cutting edge businesses. So the time couldn’t be better to finally capture yourself as that action hero, or to commemorate your anniversary or birthday. Whatever the memory, Twindom’s technology is taking memory making to a whole new level.
To learn more visit Twindom’s website or their San Mateo studio at 55 E. 3rd Avenue, San Mateo.
