Update! Breakfast at Kiki’s? Nini’s has sold and according to reports from San Mateo Business Journal, Kiki’s is set to open in its place. With brother and sister, Le Cordon Bleu trained chefs, at the helm, Jacob and Sarah Marotta purchased the building and are preparing to welcome locals to a neighborhood favorite once again. You can expect coffee and tea plus pastry items by local favorite Beurre to go, breakfast and lunch.

This charming little breakfast, brunch and lunch spot is tucked away in a quaint area of San Mateo where you’ll be greeted with its warm ambiance and a smile by one of the friendly waitresses that know the names of many of the patrons. You can find Nini’s Coffee Shop at 1000 N Idaho Street in San Mateo. They are open at 6:30am Monday through Friday; and 7:30am Saturday and Sunday. Head out early, this local popular pad gets busy on the weekends with a line, but complimentary coffee and a waiting area with benches outside are a perfect way to start your morning catching up with friends or family. Parking is tight and they do not take reservations, so plan ahead. You won’t want to miss dining at this hidden neighborhood gem, it may just become your new breakfast joint on the Peninsula.
