Hot startup “Din” cookin’ in San Mateo’s KitchenTown
Holidays are around the corner. Your schedule’s filling up. You want to gather with friends, family and neighbors for some home-cooked deliciousness. But you’re too swamped to plan a menu and shop?
Din has an awesome solution! This food delivery startup partners with local chefs to deliver all the ingredients required for a restaurant-quality recipe direct to your doorstep.
Din caters to customers (currently in the Bay Area and in Los Angeles) who don’t have a ton of time, might have ordered takeout, but want to cook at home and be more hands on with their food.
It’s a weekly subscription that takes the pain out of cooking, figuring out what to make and shopping. On average, meals take 20 minutes to make.
It’s easy to get started and Din has thought through all those questions you’ll ask, such as “When will my meals arrive?” and “What comes with each delivery?” Check out the company’s easy FAQ page here >
Maybe you’ve heard of some Din competitors, such as Hello Fresh or Blue Apron? Din’s major differentiator is found in those “local chefs” the startup partners with. Yes, you, too, could cook a meal like Thomas McNaughton, owner of Flour & Water, Aatxe, Central Kitchen and Salumeria.
Bay Meadows residents, take note! While Din is a startup with national ambitions, it works out of San Mateo’s very own local business, KitchenTown, to assemble and package meals. The company is focused on local sourcing and delivery, which helps reduce waste – as seen by their signature reusable tote.
Businesses expanding or relocating their offices within Silicon Valley, San Francisco or the general Bay Area can look no further. Bay Meadows has 5 brand new office buildings conveniently located on Caltrain. SurveyMonkey will occupy the first building – Station 4 – in early 2017. Station 3 just broke ground and will be ready for occupancy in July 2017. It will feature floor to ceiling glass, bike storage, expansive floorplates and locker room facilities. All of the office buildings will have access to 18 acres of parks, a social street featuring coffee shops, restaurants, a biergarten and plenty of outdoor gathering spaces. The buildings are minutes from the Hillsdale Caltrain Station and proximal to SFO! It’s just 10 minutes to Palo Alto and 25 minutes to San Francisco!
