How Will You Use Pantone Color(s) of the Year?
Pantone bids farewell to Marsala and welcomes in Rose Quartz blended with Serenity. Every year the Pantone Color Institute nominates a Color of the Year, forecasting which specific hue designers and consumers will all supposedly be using, wearing, and buying for the following year. For the first time, the blending of two shades – Rose Quartz and Serenity are chosen as the Pantone Color of the Year. Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times. Watch for this softer take on color to make a big splash in 2016!
Here’s what Pantone has to say about their two picks:
“As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.

Color Pairings: Pantones explains whether in soft or hard surface material, the pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity brings calm and relaxation. Appealing in all finishes, matte, metallic and glossy, the engaging combo joins easily with other mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink.
Make the introduction of this pale pink and light blue hue to your Bay Meadows home by painting an accent wall, adding new home décor like a new comforter in the bedroom, rug, chair, or even couch featuring these shades. Add a few accessories in silver or hot brights for more splash and sparkle.
About Home, says: “If you’re decorating or updating a white room, adding a rose or pink accent can give the space a pop of color without going bright and changing the character of your color scheme. Adding a simple chair or accent table helps to blend the new color seamlessly into your existing furniture.”
