Spicy Eats, Cool Treats at San Mateo’s #RHRU
Red Hot Round Up returns to San Mateo on September 17th bringing with it the hottest entertainment and street cuisine to Landing Green Park at Bay Meadows, all for a great cause. Just as the weather begins to cool, we’re spicing things up with loads of flavor.
Ghost Pepper. Sriracha. Thai Chili Pepper. Jalapeno. Serrano Pepper. Habanero. Cayenne.
They’ll all be joining the line-up, along with our favorite hot sauces to season to your liking…
Shop the Red Hot Market to sample and take home specialty sauces such as Lucky Dog Hot Sauce and Hella Hot Hot Sauce! These 2 and Palo Alto Firefighters Pepper Sauce will be on hand to sample!
Don’t you worry, we’ll have plenty of menu items for those of you who prefer your heat in the form of sunshine. Plus, the coolest in street cuisine: Frozen Kuhsterd, Sugar and Spun and T, Epiphany will all offer sweet treats to pacify your palate.

Heat Up:
Cluck It Up will offer Honey Sriracha Wings + Original Buffalo Hot Wings.
(If you’re feeling brave, purchase your seat in the Spicy Wing Contest and try to beat the heat, where the sauce is amped up each round. A $20 ticket could WIN you a $500 Weekend in Calistoga Hot Springs!)
We Sushi is preparing a Curry Salmon Handroll featuring lightly seared salmon in a curry sauce with cucumber, avocado, wrapped in sushi rice and nori. Don’t forget the wasabi! Everyone is crazy over their Lobster Crunch Roll featuring lobster salad, light wasabi dressing, cucumber, avocado and a soy wrap – plus vegetarians will love the Tofu Salad with Ponzu. Be sure to try The Wheel of Fire: a spicy California Roll, with albacore + jalapeno!
You’ve never had wings this HOT! In addition to traditional BBQ dishes, Big Ed’s Buzzard BBQ will offer Hell Fire Wings, which are (Bhut Jolokia) Ghost Pepper Buffalo Wings served with a Habanero dipping sauce. Everyone loves a BBQ Chicken or a Pulled Pork Sandwich with ranch beans, coleslaw and mac n cheese, but Big Ed also serves up a Spicy Mac n Cheese plus Buzzards Eggs (deep fried Mac balls). Order the Buzzwich Sandwich – Beef Brisket topped with sliced Hot Link!

We’re very excited to introduce T, Epiphany! The Bay Area’s first boba & dessert truck. t,epiphany specializes in using the finest loose-leaf teas from Asia to create fun and innovative drinks. Be sure to try their Banana Bread Pudding, Thai Tea Cheesecake or Matcha Green Tea Marshmallows!

Picnic in the park while listening to tunes by DJ Consuelo, enjoy roving entertainment (queue up the Fire Dancers), Salsa dancing, lawn games, shenanigans from San Mateo Fire Department and prizes!
A portion of RHRU proceeds will be donated to the San Mateo City Parks and to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, a burn prevention and education charity championed by the San Mateo Fire Department. While you’re eating and heating up, help raise money for these good causes by entering the Spicy Wings Contest, emceed by NBC Bay Area’s Mike Inouye.

Practice your pepper eating, gather your friends and get ready for a spicy smackdown of hot wings where contestants can challenge worthy opponents at the San Mateo Fire Department! Know someone that can “beat the heat” and enjoys spicy food like no other? Help us spread the word! A limited number of contestants will have the opportunity to purchase tickets and enter to beat the heat in the spicy hot wing contest featuring wings by Cluck It Up. One WINNER will walk away with a weekend getaway to Calistoga Hot Springs!
