The news you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! Residents, workers, students and visitors will be buzzing about Town Square noshing on flavors of the Far East in 2020! The Fast Casual Magazine “Brands to Watch 2019” winner is expanding from San Francisco to our transit-oriented mixed-use village at Bay Meadows, San Mateo. Bamboo Asia is targeting a third quarter 2020 opening date so stay tuned for opening date announcements.

Expect a fun place to meetup after a long day where bright and flavorful bowls filled with fresh and healthy menu items and specialty cocktails will greet you and your friends.  Gather round and play games or dine outdoors fireside and enjoy eating out year-round in San Mateo’s temperate weather. Bamboo Asia joins the growing lineup of unique retail tenants that includes Blue Bottle Coffee, Fieldwork Brewing Company, Roam Artisan Burgers, Tin Pot Creamery and LIFT Fitness, Bamboo Asia in the Town Square.

“Our goal has always been to expand to the South Bay and Bay Meadows in San Mateo is the first step. We’re very excited about this location because we will have the opportunity to launch a full bar with specialty cocktails, kid-friendly dessert counter, life-sized games and outdoor seating with fire pits,” said founder Sebastiaan Van De Rijt. “Bay Meadows attracts a mix of families and professionals working in the area and we’re very excited to design an experience that offers something for everyone.”

Utilizing fine-dining cooking methods like sous vide to cook humanely raised meats, sustainable seafood and local veggies, the Bamboo Asia team is able to reduce fat and infuse high-quality spices and herbs into their dishes. The restaurant’s unique street market style setting features three counters—Japan, India and Vietnam. Customers can create their own dish or choose from specials like the Northern Catch (fresh salmon, tempura shrimp, rock crab, edamame, avocado and eggplant chips), the Spicy Peanut Pork Bowl (BBQ pork, broccoli, coconut corn, peanut lime sauce) and the Banghra Bowl (tandoori chicken, chana chickpeas, curryflower and tomato curry).

“Bamboo Asia complements the retail we’re curating at Bay Meadows beautifully. We are excited about their cocktail program and the fresh and varied menu items that really complement the existing retailers,” said Janice Thacher, partner at Wilson Meany. “Bamboo Asia will appeal to families, office tenants, residents and neighbors and the outdoor dining will be really special. We can’t wait.”

 

An ideally located community, Bay Meadows is only 10 minutes from Palo Alto, 20 minutes from San Francisco, and has 3 airports (SFO, OAK, SJC) within 30 miles. Bay Meadows is also located on Caltrain, which makes travel and commutes that much easier. Talk about convenient!
