Pinstripes. 36 Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo, 0.9 miles away. Brunch buffet served Saturdays from 11am – 3pm. Enjoy made-from-scratch Italian-American cuisine during brunch with the family, happy hour after work, or a night of bowling and bocce. The incredible expansive brunch buffet feast features rotating seasonal dishes and brunch favorites such as a prime rib carving station, waffle bar, made-to-order omelets, and a decadent dessert table.
Jack’s Restaurant and Bar, 1750 S El Camino Real in San Mateo, 1.6 miles away. Served daily until 2pm. Jack’s is second-generation restaurateurs and is the kind of place you bring home to meet your mother. Recommendations: The Moose has two biscuits topped with Yukon gold hash browns, tomato, bacon, country gravy, two eggs any style, chopped green onion. Make it a ‘Mighty Moose’ add country fried steak. Farmer’s Market Frittata has egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, artichoke hearts, caramelized onions, feta cheese served with Yukon gold hash browns and choice of toast. And who can pass on Bananas Foster French Toast with Texas French toast, caramelized bananas, cinnamon cream.
Apple Fritter. 1901 S. Norfolk Street in San Mateo, 1.8 miles away. Open M-Fri 7:30am-2pm and Sat-Sun 8am-2pm. This local cafe serves up delicious doughnuts, breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and amazing coffees. Recommendations: Always start with doughnuts – whether it’s glaze donut holes, strawberry rose flavored cake donuts in random glaze or crumble coating or two mystery old fashion donuts. The Toothfairy has 3 slices egg bread dipped in housemade cinnamon vanilla batter & topped with fairy dust served with 3 pieces hardwood smoked bacon & 2 eggs and the Tofu Scramble has grilled spinach, mushroom, tomato w/ tofu and topped with shredded cheddar and sourcream. Served with hashbrowns and toast.
Foreigner. 60E 3rd Ave, Ste 108 in San Mateo, 2.6 miles away. Brunch served Monday-Sunday 8am-2:30pm. Foreigner is a brunch spot by day and a dinner place at night, a mix of upscale yet casual vibe New-American restaurant. Recommendations: Bacon Benedict with chopped bacon, cipollini onions, cherry tomatoes, cremini mushroom, poached egg w/ hollandaise, mixed green salad & levain bread. Sexy French Toast featuring homemade tcho-chocolate banana walnut bread, maple syrup, marscapone + seasonal fruits. Croque Madam boasting smoked ham and gruyère cheese on brioche bread and topped with bechamel, parmesan cheese and sunny egg.
Backhaus. 32 3rd Avenue in San Mateo, 2.6 miles away. Served Tuesday – Sunday 7:30am-4pm. Naturally leavened artisan bread and pastries baked daily in San Mateo. Recommendations: Speck & Egg Breakfast Bowl. The Speck & Egg Bowl is a full savory breakfast in a single pastry. It is made from our flakey, buttery croissant dough filled with two slices of smokey Italian Speck, an egg cooked to jammy perfection, and garnished with scallions, pickled mustard seeds, and crunchy salt flakes. The Mini Chocolate Sourdoughs are a special treat that is only available on weekends. Try it sliced thinly and topped with cream cheese and your favorite fruit preserves, like cherry or strawberry jam.
Farm House. 1301 6th Ave in Belmont, 2.7 miles away. Brunch served Friday-Sunday 11am-2:30pm. Enjoy curbside takeout and patio dining in our beautiful city of Belmont. Recommendations: The Porkinator boasting a 6-hour slow roasted pork shoulder than hand shredded topped with Swiss cheese, 2 slices of bacon, & fried egg between a thick toasted English muffin sandwich served with fried gold Yukon potato. The Fried Oyster Benedict features Federation Rye Beer battered oysters fried until golden brown gently set on topped of toasted English muffin and spinach. Topped with poached eggs & hollandaise sauce. Served with gold Yukon potato hash.
TOWN. 716 Laurel Street in San Carlos, 3.9 miles away. Brunch served Saturday & Sunday 10am-2:30pm. Set in the historical Tivoli building, Town features Regional American Cuisine with locally sourced wood-fired rotisserie chicken, hand-cut steaks, and fresh seafood. Recommendations: Start with a Town Bloody Mary with Titos vodka, tomato juice, fresh lemon juice and a mix of spices or a Bottomless Mimosa, which they’ll keep pouring for 90 minutes from the time you’re seated. The Town Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich has two fried cage-free eggs, maple cured ham, brown sugar bacon, cheddar, gruyere & American cheese, hollandaise on griddled sourdough, breakfast potatoes. The Loco Moco features house-ground premium filet burger, spiced chorizo, steamed rice, fried cage-free eggs, crispy onion strings, black pepper gravy.
Caffe Central. 1380 Burlingame Ave in Burlingame, 4.4 miles away. Brunch served Friday-Sunday 7am-2pm. Recommendations: CEO Plate has smoked salmon topped with capers and red onions, egg whites, berries, avocado, side of bagel and cream cheese. The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes are served with fresh blueberries, lemon cream & maple syrup.
Johnston’s Salt Box. 1696 Laurel St in San Carlos, 4.9 miles away. Brunch served Saturday & Sunday 10am-2pm. From scratch, “farm and rooftop garden” to table restaurant serving organic products in a comfortable relaxed environment. Recommendations: Carrot Cake French Toast is ginger and cinnamon spiced pan d’ mie French toast, carrot cake marmalade, cream cheese butter, gingered carrot, plumped golden raisins. The Garden Frittata features asparagus, leek, cremini and fontina frittata, green goddess hollandaise.
Angelicas. 863 Main St. Redwood City, 6.4 miles away. Open Saturdays and Sundays, 8am-2pm. Angelicas is a family-owned restaurant creating vibrant California cuisine dishes with Latin flair and has been proudly serving the Redwood City area and beyond since 2006. Recommendations: Enjoy favorites like Huevos Rancheros with two eggs (any style) on crispy tortillas with mole, black beans, salsa fresca, avocado, sour cream, & queso fresco.
