Hello, spring. Get ready to enjoy a full month of March activities in the Bay Meadows neighborhood and beyond. We’ve rounded up an agenda packed with fun including flying leprechauns, cooking classes, shamrock hunts, succulent workshops, comedy shows, and much, much more. When you live just steps from Caltrain it’s easy to get from here to ‘there’ car-free! Join the FREE Bay Meadows Run Club = Wed Evenings and Sat Mornings with our neighbors at Basecamp San Mateo!

March 2, 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30  Bay Meadows Run Club. Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings at 8am. Meet at 3050 S. Delaware just beneath Survey Monkey’s HQ for a 2-, 3-, 4- or 6-mile loop (something for everyone) to get moving. Run, jog, or walk. Happening weekly – rain or shine. All paces and people are welcomed. Members often gather in Town Square for a Blue Bottle coffee or at Fieldwork Brewing after each run. Plus, there’s no fee! You heard right – membership is not required.

Sign up for Clayroom San Mateo February/March Sessions at Bay Meadows. When signing up for 6-week classes at Clayroom San Mateo, one signs up by selecting (signing up for) the 1st class. Classes 2-6 will occur on a weekly cadence during the same day of the week and time-slot. 6-week in-studio classes for pottery.

March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Shop seasonally and fresh each Saturday from 9am to 1pm (year-round) at San Mateo’s largest farmer’s market located at 1700 West Hillsdale Boulevard. Bring a big shopping bag or two because the farmers’ tables are filled with the freshest seasonal fruits and vegetables to delightful gifts like cut flowers, local honey, jams and sauces, locally-made olive oil, and chocolates. Also find fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, cheeses, and seafood. Watch for asparagus and avocados!

March 1, First Friday. The San Mateo County History Museum in Redwood City will be open without admission fees the first Friday of every month as part of its continuing “FREE First Fridays” program.

March 2, Nature Tales Story Time at Edgewood. Drop by the Education Center at Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve in Redwood City for a free Nature Tales story time for kids.

March 2, Spring Kickoff at Filoli. The NorCal Hanfu Association fills the Garden with pop-up performances in celebration of Chinese Floralia– a festival honoring the goddess of flowers in Woodside.

March 2, Starry Night. Enjoy a stellar fundraiser at the picturesque Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame.

March 3 + 24, Neapolitan Style Pizza. A new class from Baking Arts in San Mateo featuring classic pizza made with hand stretched dough in the Neapolitan style covering making dough from scratch.

March 4, 11, 18, 25. Monday Trivia Night at Hillsdale Shopping Center. Gather your pals every Monday from 6-8pm for Trivia Night hosted by Sandcastle Entertainment! Fantastic food, beer and fun at The Refuge!

March 5, Fieldwork Brewing All You Can Eat Pizza at Bay Meadows. Starting Tuesday, March 5th and every first Tuesday of the month Fieldwork Brewing San Mateo at Bay Meadows is throwing a pizza party – $13, all you can eat pizza, 5-8pm. Be there or be square (like the Detroit-style all-you-can-eat pizza).

March 5, Basecamp San Mateo at Bay Meadows Opens! Founding Members can book early with their Basecamp Fitness account online and through the studio. March 5, Hillsdale Run Club. From beginners to experts, strollers to dogs or babies, there’s a place for you in the Run Club in San Mateo.

March 6, Succulent Terrarium Workshop. A terrarium making class in San Mateo is a perfect way to tap into tranquility and get closer to nature.

March 8, Beer Week – Blue Oak Brewing Co. The opening gala in San Carlos is the most anticipated and prestigious annual gathering of Northern California’s craft beer community.

March 9, Kids Art at Magical Bridge Playground. Projects will take place in the Kindness Corner to the right of the main entrance and will be available on a first come first served basis in Redwood City.

March 10, Recreation & Exploration Expo. Discover a variety of summer experiences for kids from sports and science camps, to dance classes, and adventure camps.

March 13, Grapes and Giggles Comedy Show. Stand-up comedy at the iconic Domenico Winery in San Carlos.

March 14, Filoli Historic House and Garden. Enjoy a 2 – 2.5 mile moderate walk on the Filoli Gardens and Estate trail in Woodside. The gardens are lovely in spring!

March 15, Too Hot To Handle at Clayroom Bay Meadows. Clayroom San Mateo welcomes you to a soft opening inside the studio to view (and maybe even purchase) some mugs hand crafted by our Bay Meadows neighborhood studio members. Leading to the event, members were challenged to create mugs with a handle. Come see what has been created! The mug is an ancient drinking vessel, originating in Neolithic Era (10,000 BCE) Japan and China, symbolizes love and friendship. The show will be on display from March 15 at 10:00am and run through May 15. Studio guests are invited to stop by at any time during operating hours to check it out!

March 15, Shamrock Scavenger Hunt. Help the leprechaun find his pot of missing gold in Belmont.

March 17, French Baguette Class. This is a fully hands on bread making class. Learn the essentials of creating and preparing your dough and techniques for pulling, shaping, forming, scoring and baking in San Mateo.

March 17, Flying Leprechaun Skydive. The Luck o’ the Irish meets the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos for a special aerial celebration in honor of St. Patrick himself.

March 22, International Gem & Jewelry Show. The International Gem & Jewelry Show returns to the San Mateo County Event Center. Shop directly from wholesalers & manufacturers.

March 23-30, Easter Bunny Photo Hops at Hillsdale. Strike a pose with the Easter Bunny at Hillsdale Shopping Center! Photos from 12-5pm in Macy’s Center Court Saturday March 23-Sunday March 24 and Wednesday, March 27- Saturday March 30. Photos start at $20.

March 23, Chocolate Easter Egg Decorating at Hillsdale. Kathy’s Creative Cakes is taking 10am and 11am reservations for this creative event.

March 28, March Mocktail Madness. Enjoy Happy Hour at Byrd’s in San Mateo! There will be unlimited tasting of our many different mocktails and complimentary snacks.

March 29, Yarre with Amy. The Apartment Collection at Bay Meadows invites residents to a NEW regular Final Friday event: Yarre with Amy Waldman from Shed Club San Mateo! Get ready to stretch, lengthen, fold and plank with neighbors in The Morgan Fitness Center. BYO yoga mat and strengthen your body and community connections!

March 30, Eggstravaganza. The 47th Eggstravaganza will be held in Central Park in San Mateo from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with egg hunts, live entertainment, food trucks, a parade and more.

March 30, Easter Bunny Arrives by Helicopter. Get an Easter Egg straight from the Bunny and enjoy face painting, a bounce house and slide, and a model train display at the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos.

March 30, Egg Adventure Hunt. Bring your basket to Belmont for a egg hunt with 16,000 eggs hidden.

Bicycle Sundays. A 3.8-mile segment of Cañada Road along Crystal Springs Regional Trail is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities. Check for holiday closures.

 

Experience Midurban life. Bay Meadows is a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of open space to enjoy all-year long. Whether it’s growing your own vegetables in an organic community garden, playing a game of pick-up basketball after work, team building over bocce in the beer garden, picnicking with family on warm summer nights or with a run around the park, there’s no shortage of green space to explore.
