Get ready to enjoy a full month of activities in the Bay Meadows neighborhood and beyond. We’ve rounded up an agenda full of fun for the New Year! Kick off 2025 with a NEW fit routine! Bay Meadows Run Club offers something for everyone to get started.

January 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29, Bay Meadows Run Club with Basecamp San Mateo. Join this free fun run Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings at 8am. Meet at 3050 S. Delaware for a 2-, 3-, 4- or 6-mile loop to get moving. Run, jog, or walk. Happening weekly – rain or shine. All paces and people are welcomed. Members often gather in Town Square for a Blue Bottle coffee or at Fieldwork Brewing Beer Garden after each run. Plus, there’s no fee! You heard right – membership is not required. This is a community building fun run, compliments of our neighbors at Basecamp San Mateo at Bay Meadows. <- Vist to see the latest fit membership offers too! 

January 4, 11, 18, 25, College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Shop seasonally and fresh each Saturday from 9am to 1pm (year-round) at San Mateo’s largest farmer’s market located at 1700 West Hillsdale Boulevard. Holidays are the freshest at your farmers’ market! Find edible gifts, flowers, and great fruits and veggies! Seasonal Highlight: Carrots.

January 1, Holiday Light Show – The Grand Finale. Get ready for high-energy festive vibes—where Red Morton Park in Redwood City is transformed into a dazzling wonderland of lights, lasers, and holiday tunes.

January 1, Hair of the Dog Hike. Take in the fresh Filoli air on the 2-mile hike, including trails only accessible during private hikes in Woodside.

January 1-12, San Mateo on Ice. Located in Central Park, the outdoor ice rink features 11,000 square feet of REAL ice. Skaters will be able to skate in the sunshine during the day or under the stars at night. San Mateo on Ice offers daily recreational ice skating, parties, private ice time and special event bookings.

January 2-31, Parcade Open. Get ready for another season of fun and excitement at the Redwood City Parcade where a portion of the Armory at Red Morton Park into a one-of-a-kind arcade space.

January 3, SMC History Museum First Fridays. Explore exhibits and enjoy additional special programs for children and adults including docent-led tours, story readings, craft projects and more in San Mateo.

January 3, First Friday Nights. Swing into the weekend with live music, a food truck, animals, and fun at CuriOdyssey in San Mateo.

January 4, Rose Gardening Q&A in San Mateo. Archana Singh will answer your questions on rose growing and provide insights into rose care, maintenance, winter pruning, fertilization, pest and disease management.

January 4, Coyote Point Bioswale Restoration Volunteer Event. Nestled between San Mateo and Burlingame, Coyote Point Park boasts picnic areas, a small beach, a marina, and even a children’s museum.

January 4, Winter Cardinal – Paint and Sip by Classpop. Explore captivating mediums, brushstroke techniques and more in a paint and sip class in Belmont that is ideal for beginners, experienced painters and everyone in between.

January 11, Starlab. Explore the night sky in a realistic domed simulation at Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos. Available on select dates.

Thru January 12, Holidays at Filoli. ‘Tis the season to make special memories, bask in the vibrant landscape, and spend time together in Woodside. Step into the magic of the House decked in holiday cheer and explore the winter Garden, where inspiration glows.

January 17, Winter Ball for All. A dance for adults with disabilities and their loved ones in Belmont.

January 18, Corepower & Brunch. Kick off your Saturday morning with a Corepower workout at Pinstripes in the Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo. Enjoy a complimentary Mimosa to follow!

January 19, Waterfront 10M and 5K. Enjoy a flat, fast, and scenic out and back run along the beautiful Bay Trail, kicking off in Brisbane.

January 25, Lunar New Year Parade Downtown San Mateo. Join neighbors from 12 noon to 2pm at this family-friendly event in downtown San Mateo to kick off the Year of the Snake with lion dancing, dumplings, dim sum, community booths + giveaways and more.

Through January 26, IlluminOdyssey at CuriOdyssey. Inspired by the science of light, IlluminOdyssey in San Mateo is an immersive, interactive installation that will mesmerize kids and adults of all ages.

January 29, Royal Icing Cookie Class. The Baking Arts royal icing cookie decorating class in San Mateo covers all the necessary fundamentals. Cookie shapes and designs are seasonal.

January/February Sessions at Clayroom. When signing up for 6-week classes, one signs up by selecting (signing up for) the 1st class. Classes 2-6 will occur on a weekly cadence during the same day of the week and time-slot. 6-week in-studio classes for pottery.

Family Pizza Night at Bel Mateo Bowl. Sundays between 5:00pm – 8:00pm. 2 hours of bowling, use of rental shoes, 1 large one topping pizza per lane and 1 pitcher of soft drink per lane.

Trivia Night: Every other Monday at Hillsdale. Gather your pals every other Monday from 6-8pm for Trivia Night hosted by Sandcastle Entertainment! Fantastic food, beer and fun at The Refuge.

Bicycle Sundays. A 3.8-mile segment of Cañada Road along Crystal Springs Regional Trail is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities. Check for holiday closures.

 

Experience Midurban life. Bay Meadows is a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of open space to enjoy all-year long. Whether it’s growing your own vegetables in an organic community garden, playing a game of pick-up basketball after work, team building over bocce in the beer garden, picnicking with family on warm summer nights or with a run around the park, there’s no shortage of green space to explore.
