February 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26, Bay Meadows Run Club with Basecamp San Mateo. Join this free fun run Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm and Saturday mornings at 8am. Meet at 3050 S. Delaware for a 2-, 3-, 4- or 6-mile loop (something for everyone) to get moving. Run, jog, or walk. Happening weekly – rain or shine. All paces and people are welcomed. Members often gather in Town Square for a Blue Bottle coffee or at Fieldwork Brewing Beer Garden after each run. Plus, there’s no fee! You heard right – membership is not required. This is a community building fun run, compliments of our neighbors at Basecamp Bay Meadows.
February 1, 8, 15, 22, College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Shop seasonally and fresh each Saturday from 9am to 1pm (year-round) at San Mateo’s largest farmer’s market located at 1700 West Hillsdale Boulevard. Seasonal Highlight: Citrus.
February 1, Lunar New Year Celebration. Celebrate the year of the snake with an unforgettable afternoon at Hillsdale in San Mateo. Enjoy spectacular performances by America’s Got Talent’s very own Lion Dance Me, Iching readings, calligraphers, mesmerizing fan dancers, and more fun for the family. Celebration begins at 12pm, first 2,000 shoppers receive a scratch off for a chance at a prize.
February 1, Bay Area Time Travelers Vintage Expo 2025. Get to the San Mateo Events Center just next door to Bay Meadows for the largest traveling retro vintage market in the United States, currently visiting 16 cities from coast to coast. Attendees can expect to find a retro wonderland with the absolute best in vintage clothing, home goods, retro-inspired handmade, and more!
February 1, 14th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration. Celebrate the new year with lion dancers, martial artists, taiko drummers, and other live performances, for this celebration of the Year of the Snake in Redwood City. Plus, folks can enjoy free admission to the San Mateo County History Museum where they can find FREE Kids Arts and Crafts!
February 1-12, Lunar New Year at Fioli. The new year is a time for cultural traditions, family gatherings, and hopes for good fortune in the coming year in Woodside. The festivities will include displays of Filoli’s collection of Chinese art and decor throughout the Historic House, Asian art talks, Ballroom performances, and more.
February 2, Colorful Containers. Create beautiful containers at the San Mateo Arboretum Society that will last the entire season. Learn the guidelines for container gardening success. Review plant choices and color combinations for all situations.
February 2, Lunar New Year Celebration. Head to Belmont to celebrate the Year of the Snake with an afternoon filled with traditional Chinese dancers, musicians, Tai Chi, poetry, crafts, Lion Dance, and more.
February 2, Tour de Family Bike Fair. Free bike repair, maintenance tutorials, safe riding education, large riding practice course, obstacle course, new rider learning area, plus donuts, coffee and prizes in San Carlos.
February 7, Palentine’s Day at Clayroom San Mateo. Sign up for some Clayroom San Mateo wheel throwing and handbuilding. The Bay Meadows studio is planning a fun night from 6 to 8pm filled with pottery competition games, prizes, snacks and drinks. Bring a guest to have on your team or you’ll be assigned – RSVP/Sign up in advance.
February 7, SMC History Museum First Fridays. Explore exhibits and enjoy additional special programs for children and adults including docent-led tours, story readings, craft projects and more in San Mateo.
February 7, First Friday Nights. Swing into the weekend with live music, a food truck, animals, and fun at CuriOdyssey in San Mateo.
February 7, Superstar Dance + Sweetheart Dance in Belmont. The Superstar Dance is exclusively for youth who would benefit from a more sensory-friendly environment and their guardians. The Sweetheart Dance for youth ages 5-12 and their adult guardian. This semi-formal night of fun includes a live DJ, dancing, photo booth, crafts, refreshments, and a visit from a Disney princess.
February 8, CuriOdyssey Weekend Workshop: Stop Motion. Fan of Coraline or other stop-motion movies? CuriOdyssey in San Mateo looks back at some of the earliest animation techniques. At the end, participants will put it all together to make their very own stop-motion movie.
February 9, Flying Footballs and Robo Bowl. Join the excitement of the big game as the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos explores the combination of football and flight in a family-friendly extravaganza!
February 9, In Person Yin & Sound Healing Experience. Yin Yoga poses will help you unwind and open up through longer holds using props (typically 3-5 minutes in length). Nandi Yoga in San Mateo.
February 13, Galentine’s Day at Pinstripes. Join your gals for a day at Hillsdale Shopping Center’s Pinstripes adjacent to Bay Meadows for a Galentine’s Day experience which includes charcuterie and chocolate fountain buffet, complimentary glass of champagne & wine tasting with 6 wines.
February 13-15, Valentine’s Day Jazz. Let romance bloom with timeless jazz tunes in the Ballroom at Fioli in Woodside featuring Chloe Jean Bermudez. Bring your Valentine for this unforgettable concert experience, where intimate seating and sultry sounds evoke the iconic sounds of yesteryear.
February 14, A Kiss and A Song Pop Up in Downtown San Mateo.
Make your Valentine’s Day unforgettable in Downtown San Mateo with 💋 lip print readings by Sara James, 🎶 romantic accordion serenades by Michael Zampiceni and more 5:30-7:30pm!
February 14, Valentine’s Day Terrarium Making Workshop. Skip the traditional gifts and create a terrarium with your date while learning about Valentine’s Day history in this wreath making workshop in San Mateo with a complimentary glass of wine.
February 14, Valentine Grainbakers Breadmaking Class. Bring a date or gather a Galentine girls group and make beautiful artisan bread at Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company in San Carlos.
February 15, Mobile Rec and Roll in Paddock Park at Bay Meadows in San Mateo. Join others from 12-2pm on Saturday for an afternoon of classic lawn games and Valentine’s Day-themed H“arts” and crafts 💖✨ RSVP here or see QR. February 22, Bair Island Walking Tour. Learn about this beautiful POST protected space, and join us for a 1-mile gentle/flat walking tour of Bair Island in Redwood City.
February 26, Buttercream Flower Cupcakes. An introductory class at Baking Arts in San Mateo on buttercream piping flowers, blossoms and leaves. Take your finished cupcakes home with you at the end of class.
February 26, Queeraoke at the SM County Pride Center. Get together with your pals and belt out all your favorite songs. A sober all ages event.
January/February Sessions at Clayroom. When signing up for 6-week classes, one signs up by selecting (signing up for) the 1st class. Classes 2-6 will occur on a weekly cadence during the same day of the week and time-slot. 6-week in-studio classes for pottery.
Dueling Pianos on Friday/Saturdays. Dueling Pianos at Faith and Spirits in the heart of San Carlos! Enjoy cocktails and an all-request sing-along from 9pm – Midnight.
Family Pizza Night at Bel Mateo Bowl in San Mateo. 2 hours of bowling, use of rental shoes, 1 large one topping pizza per lane and 1 pitcher of soft drink per lane on Sundays. Elevate your Friday or Saturday night with Incredibowl with interactive graphics and games projected right on the lanes! These animations interact with the ball as it rolls down the lane for a whole new bowling experience.
Trivia Night: Every other Monday at Hillsdale. Gather your pals every other Monday from 6-8pm for Trivia Night hosted by Sandcastle Entertainment! Fantastic food, beer and fun at The Refuge.
Bicycle Sundays. A 3.8-mile segment of Cañada Road along Crystal Springs Regional Trail is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities. Check for holiday closures.
Experience Midurban life. Bay Meadows is a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of open space to enjoy all-year long. Whether it’s growing your own vegetables in an organic community garden, playing a game of pick-up basketball after work, team building over bocce in the beer garden, picnicking with family on warm summer nights or with a run around the park, there’s no shortage of green space to explore.
