Thursday Evening Summer Sounds Return: The 2026 Central Park Music Series
Summer evenings are about to get even better in San Mateo. Beginning Thursday, June 18, the beloved Central Park Music Series returns with free live music, community gatherings, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the season outdoors. Held at Fitzgerald Field in Central Park, the annual concert series brings together residents from across the Peninsula every Thursday evening through August 6, creating the perfect backdrop for unwinding after work, gathering with friends, or enjoying a family night under the trees.
One of the many perks of living at Bay Meadows is being just minutes from downtown San Mateo and all the community events that make the city special. Before heading to the park, swing by Town Square and grab dinner to go from neighborhood favorites like Bahche Mezzehouse & Wine Bar or a smoothie from Sidewalk Juice. Pack a picnic blanket, pick up a few shareable bites, and settle in on the lawn while the music gets underway. It’s an easy way to turn an ordinary Thursday into a memorable summer evening.
This year’s Thursday night lineup offers something for everyone. The series kicks off June 18 with Pop Fiction’s crowd-pleasing Top 40 and party hits, followed by Fast Time 80’s on June 25. A special Independence Day celebration takes place Saturday, July 4, featuring Vybe Society from 11am to 2pm. The summer continues with Electric Rodeo (Country) on July 9, Julio Bravo (Latin) on July 16, Native Elements (Reggae) on July 23, Mercy and the Heartbeats (Dance Mix) on July 30, and concludes August 6 with the timeless sounds of Bud E. Luv Orchestra performing Big Band and Swing favorites. Along with live music, guests can enjoy community booths, food and beverage vendors, raffles, and activities designed for all ages.
Whether you’re meeting neighbors, enjoying a date night, or simply looking for a relaxing way to end the workday, the Central Park Music Series is one of San Mateo’s favorite summer traditions. With Bay Meadows’ convenient location, it’s easy to bike, or take a quick ride downtown and join the festivities. Mark your calendar, grab your picnic essentials, and get ready to enjoy eight weeks of music, community, and summer fun.
