Community Winter Gathering Sparkles
As 2018 winds down to a close, Bay Meadows residents cozied up with neighbors to celebrate a holiday tree lighting ceremony and reflected on this new community everyone is creating together.
After a few rainy days, the skies had cleared just in time for a brisk late afternoon outdoors. The Bay Meadows social committee organized a perfectly fun gathering in Town Square. Headed up by active members from the apartment community and the townhomes, everything fell into place, with over a hundred residents stopping by.
Snacks and treats were available with hot apple cider a particular favorite as the temps dipped a bit. Tin Pot Creamery greeted several folks with an outdoor stand featuring samples of their newest seasonal flavor, Cherry Amaretto.
The tots were definitely distracted by Olaf and Elsa who stopped by to help usher in a happy holiday.
For some folks, it was their 4th lighting ceremony at Bay Meadows for what is now an annual holiday tradition.
Entertainment throughout the event was provided by the Nueva School Music Program. The Lower School’s young cohort of talented musicians serenaded the crowd with classical violin, folk, and even rock.
After the tree was lit, another highlight were the young rockers from Nueva who call themselves the Gummy F#s. The three 9 year old boys played two numbers and won over the crowd. We can’t wait to bring them back to Bay Meadows.
As the countdown began at 5:00, the little ones’ eyes lit up with excitement and delight as families gazed at the magical, once-a-year sight.
