San Mateo County Trails Are Calling: Take a Hike

If your New Year’s resolution includes more outdoor activities, here is a nice list of local San Mateo trails for you to enjoy all that the region has to offer.  Whether you’re getting ready to hike, bike, trail run, or explore other outdoor activities, AllTrails is a great resource, offering hand-curated trail maps, along with reviews and photos from nature lovers like you. These trails will be a hit with the whole family as many are pet-friendly and kid-friendly as well and are perfect for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts at any skill level.

Sawyer Camp Trail
Sawyer Camp Trail is a 11.3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.

Sugarloaf Hill and Captain Hook Viewpoints
Sugarloaf Hill and Captain Hook Viewpoints is a 1.7 mile moderately trafficked loop trail that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and mountain biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Seal Point Park
Seal Point Park is a 1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

Poison Oak Valley to Saddle Trail
Poison Oak Valley to Saddle Trail is a 2.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips and is accessible year-round.

Sugarloaf Hill via Salon Trail, Comb Over and Laurelwood Park Trail 
Sugarloaf Hill via Salson Trail, Comb Over, and Laurelwood Park Trail is a 2.1 mile loop trail that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and mountain biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Sugarloaf Hill via Salson and Saddle Trail
Sugarloaf Hill via Salson and Saddle Trail is a 1.2 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Salson, Slip, Headbangers Ball and Amphitheater MTB Loop
Salson, Slip, Headbangers Ball, and Amphitheater MTB Loop is a 3.3 mile loop trail featuring a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for mountain biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
