December is full of holiday fun to add to your agenda! This month Santa is coming to town! Craft your own wreath, learn to ice cookies like a pro, enjoy holiday festivities, and much, much more at Bay Meadows and beyond. When you live just steps from Caltrain, it’s easy to get from here to ‘there’ car-free! Get the Hillsdale Caltrain schedule and map out your month. Here’s a few events to get on your calendar:

🍪 🥛Be the one to create an annual cookie exchange at Bay Meadows! This year, invite friends to a low-key, high-payoff cookie swap where everyone will reap the rewards with an array of delicious desserts.

Dec – Jan 8, ⛸️❄️ San Mateo on Ice runs through January 8.  Read all about this fun winter destination and FREE skate days thanks to local businesses.

December 1-23, Samaritan House Holiday Donations. Hillsdale is one of the official donation sites for Samaritan House and is collecting non-perishable food items and new children/teen coats

December 1-24, Photos with Santa. Visit and pose for photos with the seasonal sensation himself – Santa Claus at Hillsdale.

December 1-24, Gingerbread House Decorating. Gingerbread House Decorating hosted by Kathy’s Creative Kakes returns to Hillsdale for the holiday season.

December 2, First Friday Nights. Swing into the weekend with music, science, animals and fun! On the first Friday of every month, from 5 pm until 8 pm, where parents and kids celebrate together at CuriOdyssey.

December 2-23, San Mateo Consolidated Firefighter’s Toy Program. Give back this holiday season. They will be accepting new toys and gifts for children at Hillsdale.

December 3, Winter Wonderland. Head to Central Park in San Mateo for a Youth Dance “SNOW”case at 2:00pm with rides, crafts, food trucks from 4:00-8:00pm.

December 3, Santa Arrives by Helicopter. Santa arrives at 10:00 am at Hiller Aviation in in San Carlos. Enjoy Christmas Carols as Santa listens to Christmas wishes.

December 3, Downtown Tree Lighting. Save the date for a holiday tree lighting celebration in downtown Redwood City.

December 3, Yule Ceremony. Fuel your spirit with a one-of-a-kind workshop in San Mateo. Make a traditional Yule log with your own personal flair while we laugh and share joy amongst one and other.

December 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, Brunch with Santa at Pinstripes. Bring the family and snap a picture with Santa while enjoying your favorite brunch menu items this holiday season.

December 3, 10, 17 College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Shop seasonally and fresh each Saturday from 9am to 1pm (year-round) at San Mateo’s largest farmer’s market located at 1700 West Hillsdale Boulevard. Fall produce is here! The farmers’ tables are filled with Brussels sprouts, onions, sweet potatoes, apples, figs, pears, and so much more. Find flowers, baked goods, gourmet foods, honey, and everything you need for fall gatherings.

December 4, 7, 11, 14, Pet Pix with Santa. Bring in your four-legged family member to sit with Santa and capture it with a photo at Hillsdale. Santa Set at Macy’s Center Court, Lower Level.

December 4, Wreath Workshop. Create your holiday wreath during a ZOOM and a Small In-Person Group at the San Mateo Arboretum Society.

December 6, Fleas Navidad Dog Hike. Celebrate the beginning of the holidays by sharing a moderately-paced hike with your canine companion.

December 9, Letters to Santa. Kids can write a letter to the North Pole and get a personalized response from Santa and his elves! Letters must be dropped off by December 9 to Belmont Parks & Rec.

December 10, Royal Icing Cookie Decorating Class. This class covers all the necessary fundamentals you will need to recreate the cookies you’ve seen in magazines and social media.

December 10, Hometown Holidays. Get in the holiday spirit and join the festivities in Redwood City. Enjoy a parade, live entertainment, Santa Claus photos, and more on Courthouse Square.

December 10, Holiday Traditions from Around the World. Celebrate Holiday Traditions from Around the World with craft activities in Redwood City.

December 15, Third Thursday @ CuriOdyssey. Drinks. Bites. Connections. STEM networking every Third Thursday at CuriOdyssey. Enjoy a private museum experience and expand your network.

December 17, 6th Annual Coyote Point Lighted Boat Parade. Deck the Halls and come celebrate with Coyote Point Yacht Club during the annual lighted boat parade.

December 18, Helicopter Adventure. Begin with an intro to the development of rotary-wing aircraft and explanation of the parts of the helicopter using a real Scorpion aircraft in San Carlos.

December 18, Thirteenth Annual Chanukah Festival. Save the date for a Chanukah celebration and menorah lighting with music, latkes & donuts in Redwood City.

December 21, Holiday Craft at the Reimagine Store. Bring your kids along and enjoy some family-friendly fun at this free Hillsdale arts and crafts pop-up featuring card making, snacks, and more.

December 21, Holiday Floral Design Class. Design your own holiday centerpiece! The workshop includes a chic vase, premium florals and we will teach you how to create a beautiful arrangement.

December 31, New Year’s Eve Carnival Party. Celebrate the last night of the year with the entire family and raise a toast at the elegant and beautiful Marriott Hotel in San Mateo.

Bicycle Sundays. A 3.8-mile segment of Cañada Road along Crystal Springs Regional Trail is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities.

Experience Midurban life. Bay Meadows is a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of open space to enjoy all-year long.
