Bay Meadows August Agenda

Make this month one to remember at Bay Meadows and beyond! Roll right through summer with events like Foster City Off the Grid, Central Bark and yoga in the open air. There’s a full line up of lively markets, movies, and live music offered in San Mateo and the SF Peninsula through August. Bay Meadows Run Club with Basecamp San Mateo. Join this free fun run Wednesday evenings at 6pm and Saturday mornings at 8am. Meet at 3050 S. Delaware for a 2-, 3-, 4- or 6-mile loop (something for everyone) to get moving. Run, jog, or walk. Happening weekly – rain or shine. All paces and people are welcomed. Members often gather in Town Square for a Blue Bottle coffee or at Fieldwork Brewing Beer Garden after each run. Plus, there’s no fee! You heard right – membership is not required. This is a community building fun run, compliments of our neighbors at Basecamp Bay Meadows.

August 2, Pub in the Park. Pub in the Park in Redwood City is transforming Red Morton Park into the perfect hangout spot each month this summer. Relax in a cozy, inflatable British-style pub, sip a refreshing pint from local microbreweries, or enjoy a variety of delicious ciders and seltzers on tap.

August 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. College of San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Shop seasonally and fresh each Saturday from 9am to 1pm (year-round) at San Mateo’s largest farmer’s market located at 1700 West Hillsdale Boulevard. Seasonal Highlight: Arugula.

August 3, Summer Pruning. In this San Mateo class, learn how to control the size of your fruit trees and shrubs by summer pruning.

August 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Sunday Downtown San Mateo Farmers Market. West Coast Farmer’s market is kicking off a new location at 222 East 4th Avenue Sundays from 9am to 2pm in Downtown San Mateo. The new farmer’s market will have a curated selection of fresh fruits, veggies, and a couple of tasty food trucks to fuel your morning stroll.

August 5, San Mateo National Night Out. If you are not going to a registered block party, head to the Martin Luther King Jr Center for music, McGruff the Crime Dog, resources, raffles, goodies, and more.

August 5, 12, 19 and 26. 25th Avenue San Mateo Farmers’ Market. Back through October 21 on Tuesdays from 3pm to 7 pm, this farmers market is an easy walk or bike ride from Bay Meadows (~0.8 mi), bringing the best Peninsula produce and makers moments from your door.

Aug 6, 13, 20, 27. Foster City Night Market by Off The Grid – Weds 5 to 9 pm. Ride your bikes from Bay Meadows to the Foster City Lagoon for a fun time! Running each Weds weekly through October 2025, just adjacent to Bay Meadows San Mateo in nearby Foster City, Off The Grid is bringing live entertainment and delicious mobile food options to the beautiful Leo Ryan Park meadow! Pet and family friendly with live entertainment.

Aug 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28. Each Weds + Thurs evening thru September 18, Summer Nights at Fioli. Experience Filoli in Woodside like never before with exclusive after-hours access. Stroll through the Garden, enjoy live acoustic music, savor local food trucks, or hike the Natural Lands at twilight.

August 7 + 14, Central Park Music Series. 2025 concerts to be announced. Central Park Music Series is a signature summer event that brings you free live music every Thursday evening thru Aug 14. Music lovers of all ages gather for an evening of music, dancing, food, and fun!

August 9, Meet Bluey & Bingo. Wackadoo! Bluey and her little sister Bingo are heading to Hillsdale from 11am-3pm in the North Block. Come meet everyone’s favorite Heelers in person for plenty of smiles and a photo!

August 9, Imagine Together Festival. An event for all ages to play, shop, and explore the future of Belmont’s Community Center. Enjoy a festive day of fun, see the current state of the 75-year-old community center and explore the vision of what the Community Center can offer.

August 15, Movies in the Park. Head to Belmont and bring a picnic dinner or get take out from one of our great local restaurants. Pre-movie games will be provided by Belmont’s Mobile Recreation. August 15 at Twin Pines Park, showing ‘Inside Out 2’, September 12 at Alexander Park, showing ‘Mulan’, October 3 at Barrett Community Center, showing ‘Shrek’.

August 16, Love Local Summer Festival. Celebrating the Summer of 1967, Celery Retail will host the first “Love Local Summer Festival” featuring vintage apparel, 60’s inspired jewelry & accessories, as well as decorative home goods at Hillsdale. Enjoy live bands playing your favorite classic 60’s hits, and much more.

August 16, Summer Bar Crawl Series. Partake in the Hillsdale Tropical Themed Bar Crawl in San Mateo! Every restaurant will have a specialty drink, starter and/or specials during their time frame.

August 16-17, USA Asian Culture & Food Expo. Whether you’re a curious consumer, an ambitious entrepreneur, or a seasoned industry professional, this San Mateo event is your all-access pass to the vibrant world of Asian fine brands and groundbreaking business opportunities.

August 17, Central Bark. Enjoy a PAW-some day of vendors, entertainment, and contests in San Mateo’s Central Park. Proceeds from this event support San Mateo PAL youth programs.

August 17, Yoga Summer Series at Hillsdale. Wind down with Core Power Yoga and Pinstripes! Enjoy a complimentary Mimosa to follow.

August 17, HEAD WEST Marketplace. Visit Downtown San Mateo’s South B Street every third Sunday of the month. Browse unique holiday gifts or find a treat for yourself from 50 local Makers, Merchants, Crafters, Designers, and Artists. While you’re here, explore over 100 of Downtown’s retail offerings, delicious dining destinations, and local art — there’s something for everyone this season. Runs through December.

Thru August 20, Music in the Park. Ten weeks of free live performances at Stafford Park every Wednesday! Enjoy classic park fare—hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks in Redwood City.

Thru August 28, Movies on the Square. Every Thursday evening for twelve weeks Courthouse Square in Redwood City transforms into a magical open-air theater with free double features for all ages.

Thru August 29, Music in the Park. The concerts are held at Burton Park in San Carlos. For the best concert experience, be sure to bring a blanket or chair (and even a picnic!). Beer, wine, and other beverages are sold onsite by the Parks and Recreation Foundation of San Carlos.

Thru August 29, Music on the Square. From rock, reggae, and funk to Latin, soul, and everything in between, this fourteen-week series delivers high-energy performances that keep Courthouse Square in Redwood City rocking and features top-tier talent from across the Bay and beyond.

August 29-30, San Mateo Jewelry Show. Held at the San Mateo County Event Center.

August 30, Clayroom San Mateo Annual Summer Sale 11am to 5pm. Visit Town Square at Bay Meadows to shop beautiful ceramics crafted by talented members and staff of Clayroom San Mateo. Coffee samples will be provided by Bay Meadows neighbor Blue Bottle and one of a kind artwork made by our staff members will be raffled! RSVP today.

August 30, Paint-A-Plane. Paint the museum’s Cessna Cardinal airplane, build and fly paper helicopters, check out in the cockpit of the Aero Commander airplane, jump house and more at the Hiller in San Carlos.

Thru August 31, Parcade @ Red Morton Park. Look for the shipping containers in Redwood City and you’ll know you’ve found the Parcade! It’s all about video games and skeeball, pure arcade energy. Game on!

Thru November, Rock the Dock Concert Series in Redwood City. Enjoy live music, dancing, food and fun on the waterfront. Concert-goers should bring lawn chairs, blankets, jackets and refreshments. On-site food vendors will also be available.

August/September Sessions at Clayroom. When signing up for 6-week classes, one signs up by selecting (signing up for) the 1st class. Classes 2-6 will occur on a weekly cadence during the same day of the week and time-slot. 6-week in-studio classes for pottery.

Bel Mateo Bowl Friday, Saturday and Sundays in San Mateo.
Karoake – Fridays from 7:30 – 11:30pm hit the mic with friends for some Karaoke.
Planet Bowling – Bowl in the dark under black lights on Fridays from 9:30 – 11:30pm and Saturdays from 8- 11:30pm.
Incredibowl – Fridays 9:30 – 11:30pm and Saturdays from 8 – 11:30pm interactive graphics elevate your bowling game with Incredibowl.
Family Pizza Night – Sundays from 5-8pm Family Pizza Nights and all you can bowl 8-10pm!
All You Can Bowl – Sundays enjoy unlimited bowling for 2 hours 8- 10pm!

Trivia Night: Every other Monday at Hillsdale. Gather your pals every other Monday from 6-8pm for Trivia Night hosted by Sandcastle Entertainment! Fantastic food, beer and fun at The Refuge.

Bicycle Sundays. A 3.8-mile segment of Cañada Road along Crystal Springs Regional Trail is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 allowing for non-motorized activities. Check for holiday closures.

 

Experience Midurban life. Bay Meadows is a family-friendly neighborhood with lots of open space to enjoy all-year long. Whether it’s growing your own vegetables in an organic community garden, playing a game of pick-up basketball after work, team building over bocce in the beer garden, picnicking with family on warm summer nights or with a run around the park, there’s no shortage of green space to explore.
