Summer Harvests at Persimmon Park

The community garden at Persimmon Park is in full summer production mode! We’ve got enormous tomato plants, zucchinis the size of your arm, huge bundles of herbs and basil, incredible carrots, and more cucumbers than we know what to do with. In this week’s news from the garden, we’d like to share with you some of our favorite pics of residents with their bounty. We’ve got a wide range of gardeners at Persimmon Park, from novices who were sure they had a “brown thumb” (they’ve been proven wrong!) to veteran gardeners who have honed their skills to grow the perfect tomato (we convinced them to share their secrets!), but everyone has been growing their very own delicious vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers:

Happy gardening! And please mark your calendars for our next class in the DIG IT series: Planning for the Fall & Winter Garden. Although we’re in the midst of summer heat and sun, your fall planting of veggies is just around the corner! Don’t miss this fun and informative class hosted by Homestead Design Collective on Saturday, September 5th from 1-2PM at Persimmon Park – it’s free and open to the public, so please bring friends, family, and all your gardening questions.
