Aloha Downtown San Mateo
San Mateo is known for having a great restaurant scene with diverse food offerings throughout the city. And now a new addition, a Hawaiian Café, is coming to Downtown San Mateo. Soon residents and visitors alike will be able to savor the taste of the islands at Pokeatery.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the Hawaiian dish, Poké, here is brief description from the restaurant’s website:
Poké is a raw salad found in Hawaiian cuisine. Fresh, healthy, and tasty, it is a popular dish that is served at all varieties of meals and get-togethers, and found almost anywhere on the islands, from fancy restaurants to neighborhood grocery stores.
The owners of Pokeatery have a family background with over 20 years of experience in sushi restaurants so they decided to bring their love of the Hawaiian Islands to their own neighborhood. Their goal is simple: provide great tasting poké made with the highest quality ingredients, and serve it with a smile.
A glimpse at their website gives you some insight into the newest addition to Downtown San Mateo. At Pokeatery, they want to keep things simple. They offer up a variety of freshly prepared, delicious Poké. Patrons will just need to follow the four simple steps below, and enjoy!

San Mateo is a great place to meet people and connect. Meet Up and Mosey are both good places to find groups with common interests and ideas for fun things to do. Another thing San Mateo is great for is food. San Mateo even won Rand McNally’s Best of the Road: Best Small Town for Food! Take a look at the Ramen Crawl we created on Mosey, which includes 8 delicious ramen restaurants. Mmm…
