A Community Grows and Celebrates
At Bay Meadows, it’s been a year of new homes, new neighbors, new babies, new garden beds, new bicycles and so much more. At the residents’ holiday tree lighting ceremony in December, it was a time to cozy up with neighbors and reflect on this new community everyone is creating together.
The Bay Meadows social committee organized a perfectly elegant gathering in Persimmon Park. Headed up by the committee’s ever-active Shara, everything fell into place, with over a hundred residents stopping by. After a few rainy days, the skies cleared just in time for a brisk evening outdoors.
The empanadas from Cocina Milonga of KitchenTown in San Mateo were super popular, with numerous flavors: beef, spinach, mushroom, sweet potato and fugazzeta (onion and cheese). To satisfy our sweet tooth, Cocina Milonga also offered their unique alfajores.
And everyone cozied up to the Peet’s hot cocoa bar, where residents custom-made their own cupswith toppings that included whipped cream, marshmallows, Heath bars, Andes mints and candy canes.
For some, it was their 2nd lighting ceremony at Bay Meadows for what will now be an annual holiday tradition. This year, Peninsula Holiday Lights provided lighting installation for the Persimmon Park tree.
As the countdown began at 5:30, the little ones’ eyes lit up with excitement and delight as families gazed at the pretty once-a-year sight.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
