Now is the time to Nominate a Bike Champion of the Year

Do you know someone who loves to bike; someone who prefers two wheeled transit to driving their car?  You can nominate that individual to be considered for the voting of the Bike Champion of the Year for 2022!

Everything is within easy reach when you call Bay Meadows home. There are so many bicycle options in San Mateo that you really can park the car and get your weekly errands done via two wheels, plus with a direct connection to the San Francisco Bay Trail – beautiful rides after work or on weekends are made easy. Get rolling! It’s great for your health and the environment. Get the skinny on some of our Favorite Local Bike Trails on the Bay Meadows blog.

The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition is calling for a bike champ! So if you know a dedicated “Bike Champion” in your life who pedals to work, school, appointments or just around town on a regular basis, you can acknowledge their efforts by nominating them this year. The perfect Bike Champion would be an individual who inspires others to use a bicycle for transportation and someone who brings the joy of riding to everyday life.

By nominating an individual it acknowledges their lifestyle and inspiration and makes San Mateo an overall better bicycling experience.  So don’t hesitate, nominate that special someone as your county’s 2022 Bicycle Champion of the Year!

Bike Champion of the Year Nominations are open with a March 31st Deadline.  Nominate someone you know in San Mateo County who loves riding their bike anywhere and everywhere or someone who inspires others to get out and pedal. Fill out the nomination form here and check out the 2021 winners for inspiration.

And while we have bicycling on our mind, mark those calendars because May is Bike Month and it will be here soon.  Even if you are pedaling around town , you can support people’s two-wheeled efforts, by signing up here to host or help out at an Energizer Station at various locations for Bike to Work Day on Friday May 20th or Bike to Wherever Days Saturday May 21st or Sunday May 22nd.

This year’s Bike to Work Day is expanding, with feature activities continuing into Saturday May 21 and Sunday 22. Whether it is biking to work on Friday May 20th or biking to the library or Farmer’s Market, there are endless options, you decide where and when to activate your Energizer Station! Take a look at the EnergizerHost Guide, for more details on running a station.

Be sure to check bayareabiketowork.com regularly for information, details about energizer stations, events, and much more.
